I Wonder - what this will do to crop production?

Climate Change is man's current folly.  I simply see it as the Tower of Babel all over again.  Who knows what sort of unintended consequences will ensue.

I remember visiting the UN in Geneva back in 1990.  There was truly an air of superiority and self-importance about the place.  I've been a strong doubter ever since.

Regarding the stats of Mt. Pinatubo... the words ozone depletion appear. I would just like to throw out there that according to Encyclopedia Brittanica (an object with paper pages and no battery) the natural manufacturing of ozone never stops, as it is governed by the ozone itself. It occurs when ultraviolet splits oxygen molecules, part of which is turned into ozone. The more ultraviolet that gets through, the process accelerates as much as necessary. Conversely, as the atmosphere gets loaded with ozone, the process slows down until we get only what we need.
I never believed that there was a “hole” in the ozone, but I suppose there is reason to believe that there might be a weak spot near the poles , where there is dark for an extended period of time.... but then it’s also light for the same period; wouldn’t that recharge it fully?

My personal belief is that banning Freon will do as much for the ozone as #44 banning 100 watt bulbs did for the environment.

  Symbolism over substance.

90s being all hot and dry??  Look up the flood of 1993.

Yep, I remember the flood and going to the river and seeing it,  but, dont remember it being wet really at all at home  we are about an hour east of mississippi near stlouis.

Maybe it was that one year...  but in my mind,  there wasnt a year where i can recall saying... man it was wet,  but there are seemingly MANY when i can say man that was hot,  that was a dry year.   I dunno?   Its memories,  not necessarily an accurate history of what took place.

After combining wheat in the summer of 1992, we decided it was time for a 4wd combine. We sure needed it in 1993 and several other years in that stretch. Lots and lots of problems with absolutely terrible, muddy harvests back then and no machinery that could handle it.

On our farm we mudded out the wheat and the corn grew poorly that year.  Lost a fair amount of money because of it.  Just thinking about 1992 gives me the shivers.

I was 7 in 92. I remember the last 17 acres he did that year vivedly. Right before Christmas. Snowing like crazy. Normally we would have called it off but Dad after the way that fall had gone was in don't give a $h-t how it gets done but we're getting done mode. He kept having to clean the sieves off to keep them from plugging. But by God we got it done. I was riding Buddy seat witnessing it all.

Great Grandpa was at the very end of his farming career. Ran a little bit of corn. Wet and light. Said the #ell with it til spring then had Dad come run it the end of March/early April. 93 was his last crop then he hung it up.

Dad's years like that were 1972,1992 and 2009. I have nightmares of 2009. Wet, rained all the damn time, wet Giberrella infected corn. Full of Vomitoxin. Were able to run beans exactly 5 days that entire October. Mudded through chopping. And mudded corn in. Spent most my fall around dryers. Remember waking up at night hearing those Fans screaming in my dreams thinking I fell asleep at the bins

Man's concocted solutions usually generate tomorrow's problems, I have a big problem with anybody committing acts against mother nature for our good, this on the heels of trust the science, there is no trust anymore

Another clear blue day turns into a dimly lit overcast.  Clear days rarely happen here anymore.

I had the chance to rent the neighbor's 235 acre farm that year.  Looked into buying a Case 2470 to help with the spring work.  I got cold feet all of a sudden and walked away from it.  Good thing I did that as that probably would have ended my farming career.  Too much loss to overcome.  Corn was 51-52 pounds test weight and I don't know how it did it.  A lot of corn was below 47 pounds which was a cut off with the local elevators.  Everybody was calling around to see if anybody had any old corn from 1991 to blend it out.

A valid question, I think.  Seems to me like it might be a bit risky.
