Waxoyl

I'm trying Fluid Film for the first time this winter. Waxoyl is similar and I think is the one sold/used by Land Rover. Both are available in parts stores around here. The Land Rover stuff is available from Rovers North in VT also.

I’ve been using fluid film or wool wax this past year it seems to stick and coat good but it does make everything very messy to work on afterwards. I’m using on new vehicles. I have seem older vehicles that have had it done faithfully and it seems to have worked. My 02 Chevy I bought new never coated but washed off all the time. Is rotten right out but I also worked at the state DPW yard for its first 6 years running a loader during snow storms so when I would go to work it was clean but when I would leave  the roads were always black and wet. The salt got everything under it. I still run it today back and forth to work waiting for it to be to rotten to drive or pass state inspection. My coated truck sits in the garage unless I need it on the weekends. Hoping to make it last even longer.

Waxoyl has a host of products under its brand, the original is a semi solid product, you can scrape it with your fingernails, it is sold as a 1 time application with occasional touch ups, it is a surface protector rather than a cavity product. My personal opinion is that it is an excellent product to apply on a new or completely rust free vehicle then use either their gel cavity product, fluid film, NH undercoating to top dress and treat cavities. Its an excellent product but in itself is not the sole solution.
i intend to use it on my new truck in addition to NH undercoating which is mineral based and doesn’t stink like nursing home laundry hampers.

That's what I want to do

I had sprayed my truck with Cosmoline when I got it 3 years a go and its wearing off now

That alone is not durable enough to stop the sand blasting and rock chipping

I think Waxoly with a seasonal coating like NH might do the trick

The waxoyl is durable enough not to chip, and with the oil is soft enough to be self healing to an extent.

I used the semi clear soft wax on my dodge w200. Sprayed it in all the cavities   When it was finally  parked up alongside my k5 blazer they both sat under trees for 10 years or so. The blazer almost disintegrated but the dodge was still sound. I’ve since used it on my Landrover chassis and bulkhead with good results.  The black underbody stuff is good if applied properly but if the surface it’s in isn’t perfectly clean and dry eventually water creeps in and starts the rot.
