dale560
Pulled these pickups out of tree rows at trust yard. They have been there for long time. 35 years or more. The first one is a 47 dodge I think I know that one is a 1/2 ton. The gmc has me puzzled I always thought it was a 3/4 long box. But I know after pulling it out it is a 6 ft box and it could be a light 3/4 ton or maybe a 1/2. It has 15 inch tires. Can you guys look them over and ID them year and weight. The dodge could just be found by the cab top. Suprising what a good loader and operator can do.
dale560
Hard to see but that 54 gmc is sitting to the right and about 20 feet behind the IH truck. That’s how much snow we dealt with. That is 3 ft pushed up in the trail picture.
Big Bud guy
What’s your plans with them?
Jake19917561
54 gmc should have a one piece windshield, not sure about anything else. I know for chevy in 1955 for the second series they made a 1/2 ton long bed they designated a 3200

vtfireman85
That dodge shares a Cab with the Power Wagon, if the windshield frame is not swiss cheese i have seen used ones with broken glass go for 1200, it looks like a solid cab too, if it isn’t restorable you have some real dollars in parts there. Now there is a statement that could use enhancement, almost could fit in the changing hands thread.

The cab is good. This pickup has sat in two places since 1970. It sat on a farm dad had bought and I think it was left after the other owners sale. Dad pulled it to this place in about 1985. The outlaws didn’t want to give these up. They had other plans for a little local booger licker to sell them.

lotsaIHCs
The GMC is pre 54. It doesn't have the grill surround extensions that extend onto the fenders with rectangular park lamps. 47 through 53 the grill surround stops at the fender. I can't tell for sure, but it looks like it only has 4 cross bars so that would make it 47 or maybe 48? Not sure what year they went to 5 cross bars in the grill but I know the early ones had 4. Also 54 and 55 first series had flat bed rails where the 47 through 53 had the angled ones.
lotsaIHCs
The GMC most likely has a 228 or 248. Good full pressure lubrication engines unlike the Chevy 216/235 which were decent engines but had splash oiling for the rod bearings until the 235 got full pressure in later years. oldscoutdiesel
I'll go out on a limb and call the GMC 51-53. I had a 53 Chevy 3600 3/4 ton that had the moving wing windows, the fixed door handles and the split rim, 15" wheels like this one. I would guess that GMC and Chevy would have had similar features year by year. Earlier models had had a full piece side glass in the door, handles that rotated 90* to open the door and the 1/2 tons had 16" disc wheels. It is 51-53. 47 and 48 had a 3 bar grill, after that 4 bars. Not 4 and 5 as I stated earlier. The wing vents started in 51 as you pointed out. My 49 3600 had the one piece side windows, pull down handles and 7.00-17 tires on split rims from the factory.
lotsaIHCs
51 GMC had swing down door handles with wing vents. 52 was first year with push button handles so that would make this one a 52 or 53.
augercreek
GMC 3/4 TON TRUCKS HAD LOCK RING RIMS AND 8 HOLES. SPLIT WINDSHIELDS 47-51 I BELIEVE.

I am not 100%sure but I believe ww2 vintage cabs ran from 39 ish on through the 60’s, they were selling them in the 70’s in Saudi Arabia
vtfireman85
Inwill amend that a bit, the WC half ton ran from 41-42 series 1 had civilian gauges. It would suggest to me they were already using the cabs by then. I believe those cabs would interchange. dad had a pair of 36’ one half ton, one ton and a half, those had different cabs as I recall. Split windshields 47 to 53. 54 was first year for 1 piece windshield. 1/2 tons generally one piece wheels and 6 bolts. But I have one with lock rings and 6 bolts. All 3/4 tons were 8 hole wheels and as far as I know were all lock ring until either 55 second series or 56 when 3/4 tons came with 17.5 one piece and 8-17.5 tires. lotsaIHCs
Jim Carter truck parts has all the information to identify the year of the GMC. Download the 47 to 55 catalog and there are 2 sections toward the beginning of the catalog that tell all of the changes year to year. int 504
The Dodge appears to be 39 or 40 as later ones had more chrome strips on the bottom sides in front. That cab continued on civilian power wagon until 62 and later on the military WM 300. There were also civilian power wagons that used the regular cabs and noses and bodies. Any way that is going to have some value.
rustred
I am pretty sure the gmc is 1952. It’s not a 54. 54 had different grill.
