vtfireman85
I have not gone in for their coolers, we got dad a pelican, same Idea, equal quality, liked the latches better, but everyone hates the cooler, if I were off shore fishing, I could see it, but for camping or whatever it takes a huge amount of ice to get it cold, and I don't think it holds ice any better than my steel belted Coleman if its getting opened 15 times a day, and it is all anyone wants to carry empty, full it requires 2 people. I have to say however I am super impressed with their drinkware, it is well designed, expensive but not outrageous, and it is built like a brick outhouse. mom got dad a 20 oz tumbler a few years ago, I scoffed at it, I have always been a devotee of Hydroflask, I carry a couple 40oz insulated with me daily with water, and I carry one for coffee. but I was impressed with the magnetic slider on dads tumbler, and he claims his coffee is scalding at noon. Hydroflask redesigned their caps, and they are retarded, so I tried the 12 oz yeti rambler last year and fell in love, today I bought the 18 with a water type cap, switched it out for my coffee cap for now. it sat in the truck with my tea for 6 hours below zero and the tea was hot when I went to drink it. nuff said. only thing is, while it fits in my cup holder, its a little like carrying a fire extinguisher around. that's not a complaint, but it is a consideration. anyway, hats off to Yeti, they really do make a good product, and it is dishwasher safe, unlike their competition. in a world where everything seems to be getting crappier, these products are really well built.
New Englander
We carry their coolers in our baggage compartments for overseas flights where sometimes there's no cold storage available. I've found it still had ice after days parked in hot weather. We also use it the other way when parked in sub freezing weather to limit the stuff we have to remove. It doesn't come near to holding all the freezables though but nothing freezes. Compared to the Coleman coolers we used to use they're head and shoulders above, quite superior. hobbyfarm
Wife got a free cooler that was used for promotional purposes. We had some drinks in it back in June with drinks for some helpers. There are a few days every June where we go non stop until we cant go anymore. When she finally got to cleaning everything up a few days later the cooler still had quite a bit of ice in it. I was impressed.
DT Fan
I have two Yeti tumblers they gave us at work. They are great! However, I would not pay the price out of pocket. Their coolers are probably great too? There again, not going to pay the price to find out. Mot sure if he still endorses them or not but Flip Pallet is one of my favorite TV fishermen of all time! The 'Walker's Cay Chronicles' was the greatest fishing show I've ever seen! Miss it hugely.
Sledgehammer
I was given a yeti tumbler a couple years ago as a gift. I like it. Holds ice well. As for coolers, I can’t say. I have a 40qt Orca brand that I like for trips and such.
searcyfarms
meh theyre ok, plenty of others around that are descent and less $$ - got a couple of the vacuum water bottles/cups and guarantees for life on the lids and jugs/bottles cant say i notice much difference in them - havent tried the coolers, way out of my rigid anal penny pinching character to spring on one but no doubt they are good just hard for me to justify
Ian Beale
Read their dodger and you'll find that they've gone all ESG
kevinj
I looked at them but went with Rtic for about half the cost. So far I am happy with Rtic.

AKwelder
Some people love there products, I am like others, meh. I did buy the daughter a cup for Christmas, she likes it. I have been using hydro flask, and they seem just as good.To me the biggest thing they did was get the cooler companies out of the 1970’s and away from the urban family going to the park marketing. when Colman and the others saw people will buy heavy duty coolers with thick insulation and heavy hinges they all upped their game, about darn time 8 hours ago, Art From Coleman said: I had a small (20-25 quart) YETI cooler, and was NOT impressed, by the time you put a few cans/bottles in it, you couldn't put enough ice into it, where the ice would last any longer than a good Igloo or Coleman cooler. My conclusion, WAY OVERPRICED, made for the "great white hunter", who wants to impress, ALL THE WHILE FORGETTING THIS: https://www.thecoolerzone.com/yeti-coolers-nra-everything-need-know/ AND, true to form, the NRA caved: https://www.texasmonthly.com/news-politics/nra-calls-cease-fire-austin-based-yeti-coolers/ A friend owned a fishing lodge and was a dealer for yeti since before they were famous. He has a different version of this story, which includes him. They pulled the rug on everyone, not just the NRA. Seems the discounts and special deals had slowly gotten to everyone and were way out of hand. He has the letter in fact.
hardtail
The fact that a company that's main products interweaves with hunting and takes a stance against the NRA and its members interests seems like suicide, can't imagine ever entertaining a $500 cooler purchase but I'll vote with my wallet and never own squatch here
Rawleigh99
They are overpriced. I don't need a bear proof cooler where I am. They are also heavy as lead!
vtfireman85
I agree wholeheartedly that the coolers are overpriced, overbuilt and overhyped. Their drinkware on the other hand i feel is competitive in price and far and above the best I have seen. My new thermos bottle was 30 bucks, if i make my coffee at home and have hot coffee on a cold day working outside, for 1 i have a nice afternoon warmup, not an afternoon cold coffee. I don’t feel the need to go buy a cup, and if i do buy a cup, most places give a fair discount for using your own cup. i can easily justify 30 dollar bottle. mader656
I have a yeti cooler i dont think it keeps ice any better than the rtic for half the cost. But where it shinned was the fact it is 7 years old fell of cliffs fencing gotten tons of stuff stacked on it and still in one peice.
mikem
It's that time of year when we are up to our ears in ice fishermen.... Seems that this year a large percentage seem to be from Minnesota, you know, where the 10,000 lakes are.? Vehicle of choice seems to be a 1 ton 4x4, preferably diesel, with a snow plow, pulling a trailer with a snow-bear on it, or a large ice-shack. Today I saw a large ice shack, tandem wheels on each side, sporting a VERY large "YETI" sticker on both sides. If that wasn't somebody's idea of a joke, I DON'T want to know what it cost! Mike If you don't know about Snow-bears............... https://snobearusa.com/

I never got into ice fishing, then again, I never got into water fishing either, I would rather ski or cut firewood when it is cold. I would think ice fishing would not necessitate the greatest cooler, I would think a 5 gallon pail would suffice. 1

I know it lowers but it's not sitting on the ice. Wouldn't you get a lot of cold wind coming up through that hole? If I spend that much money I sure don't want a cold draft blowing in there. Doug in NY
@IH Forever cold air does not rise, the vehicle does not really need to lower. I have been in trailers that have been set up like that, you can ice fish in a t shirt they get so warm. for areas that using tip ups instead of jigging fish is popular the trailer or bearcat are not as easy to use. it would be a good way to camp on the ice. That is true, warm air rises, cold air doesn't. However I was thinking more about wind. I have been on a frozen lake with a snowmobile and have experienced how windy it can be when you get out there in the open. I was thinking you would get a pretty good draft coming through that hole.
