It'd be lower, but it exceeded quite a few expectations.... & functioning is one of those. 😄 There wasn't a lot of seed to poke back in the ground, which is good. No corn flour in the cans either. But one plate works better than the other, so there's going to be quite a few skips in alternating rows. Can't wait to see what comes of this mess & there's two more messes to make, too yet! Mike Cool video. I have what I think is a 3pt version of that planter. It came to me in a barn and the family giving it up had a Ford of some sort in their past I believe. Pics are poor but it’s pretty similar. It’s been sitting a long time. My Great Grandfather farmed for this family when they stopped farming in the early 60’s if not before.

Hey billionaire, can you leave the seed in the hoppers with it folded up like that? The book says they should not be over half full when in transport. I had one several years ago and I always made sure it was fairly low when I transported it.

The hitch braces are still sticking out in the front. The 3pt conversion is somewhat common. Seen quite a few through the years. Mine came from my grandfather, many years ago. He got that & the H in the vid at the same auction in '51. Both machines were only two years old then. Mike

I would rather this one be drawn like yours but it is what it is at this point. I’d like to do what you did and try it out at some point but haven’t found the time this year and probably won’t. Still waiting on a dry enough time to plant my sweet corn with the “other” planter. I had a history with this planter when I worked in corn research. Once I moved on I got the opportunity to buy it and did. 5
acem
Planted all the beans until it dries up a little more. Probably 3 acres left.
acem
Spraying yeller chemical on rice. Prowl is a good pre emerge herbicide on rice but has a narrow application window. After the seed has absorbed water and before 3 leaf stage.
IHandJDman
Finished corn for the year and disked an old fence row that I took out.

TeachersPet1066
Finally got started with corn this week. Switched over to soybeans because boys had school off on Friday so they could help their grandfather get his soybeans in. Wasn’t thrilled about son getting a cell phone but it sure has been helpful since my father has never owned one. Had to laugh when I got home and he was covered in dirt, grease, and graphite. Youngest son helped grandma with garden and cleaning pig pen.

When you go to swing that 40 ft planter around it takes some weight on the nose to make it happen.
DT Fan
After getting back from the auction I finished planting three(!) fields of beans that I had started and been unable to finish, probably less than seven acres. Tractor and planter are on location to finish the last two fields today. 12 hours ago, billonthefarm said: The weights are to help turn. Don't fill the tanks over about half full if road travel is in the plan! About put her in the ditch once with the tanks full.
FarmerFixEmUp
Field cultivator got moved to the 5488. 24' so doesn't pull down the old horse. Med 5 at 2000 rpm, 7 MPH. 806 on a double rolling basket, about 30'. I disc ripped this field last fall and it's pretty loose, so thought I'd firm it up a bit.

acem
Got a rain so no dry planting. Water seeding rice the hillbilly way. Normally it's done with an airplane. Saw some snakes. I know y'all like seeing them. They are out eating frogs.
