I remember those harrows on the front of planters but haven’t seen one in that good of shape in a long time. I might be dreaming but did M&W make the harrow on the cyclo planter in the pic? Harrow was made by Midwest Mfg. Works well in clean tilled soil. Other conditions…….not so much.

Had that exact setup, 4 x 38 row 400 with midwest drag, ours had dry fert. I cant recall 100% but it seems like ours had a seperate hyd cylinder to lift/lower the drag. Had duals and 400 gallons in saddle tanks on the 4020 with a 12ft boom mounted right to the bottom of the saddle tanks. Put down all our N, Attrex, and Lasso as we planted. Monsanto called it "Surface Blend" , was just a buzz word for shallow incorperation. Back then we moldboard plowed everything, disked only the ends, dead furrows, and back furrows to flatten em down some then planted. Did no secondary tillage, only the drag on the planter. Worked well till less tillage/no-till came.

acem
Tried to plant some sweet sorghum with my old 500 cyclo planter but the ground is too hard for the dull openers and little down pressure. I'll try to make some plate work in my 900. The cyclo would have given much better spacing than the sorghum plates I have...

Absent Minded Farmer
A fence row special was put to use, planting corn. I'd give it about a B-. It'd be lower, but it exceeded quite a few expectations.... & functioning is one of those. 😄 There wasn't a lot of seed to poke back in the ground, which is good. No corn flour in the cans either. But one plate works better than the other, so there's going to be quite a few skips in alternating rows. Can't wait to see what comes of this mess & there's two more messes to make, too yet! hobbyfarm
Mowed triticale. Could have taken a little bigger bite with the mower. Guess I was worried about stopping for a photo op.
stronger800
Bigger bite? Lol. Looks like you had a pretty big bite two passes before. I do that about every other time that I try to take a good pic too. Then I swing around and try to get it, before anybody notices. Just realized you might have been dodging tree beaches with the cab. I hate branches.

I hate branches. I hate branches too. We trimmed a ton of them as high as we could reach with the pole saw about 2 years ago. It is a never ending job. There is a automatic shutoff that closes when blowers shut down
