Disc down a raspberry field for a cover crop we will harvest next spring.  I the back [s] is blue berry fields.  Big block my Indi Candian friend owns.  Id guess near 200 ac piece of just blue but he owns the block 2 mile x 1/4 mile.  Very nice piece of ground. They prob farm 900 to 1000 rasp and blue berry....on both sides of border.  Big operation.  Super nice guys

Baled some rice straw with the 826 and neighbors new Holland 273 square baler. 

The 826 was bought 'new' (it's a gold demo so it wasn't new) by the same neighbors family. Most of the hay the baler has baled was being pulled with this tractor. 

So it's a reunion of sorts.

I didn’t do a darn thing. Took the day off and road tripped from NY toward the bottom of PA below Allentown. 
wanted to get off the main interstate  (272 I think it was) for lunch and quickly found myself 20 miles off course out in the country side.  Came across a few nice farms sporting mostly all older IH power.

On my CaseIH MD92 I have to flip the front of the canvas cover over onto the back, then there is a cylinder stop that needs to be flipped over. The rope latch is just for putting it down from transport position, not for putting it up.

Finished up cutting the second round of hay this afternoon. Will fluff it tomorrow and maybe bale it Friday. If not Saturday for sure. Winterized the grain drill also; hard to believe that it's almost winter!

Thanks I'll go over tomorrow and check  & try what your telling me. What gets me is will lift it about 2 inch's and then stop like it's hitting a stop. Plus his HYD. only has one hose to operate it  IMO it ought to have two.

mine has a latch to release to lower and another to release to raise. 2 separate ropes

I have a Massey 1308. The latch with rope attached is to hold up in transport. Shouldn’t be anything that keeps it from raising. I’m guessing a hydraulic issue on the tractor?

Could be as simple as a bad coupler.  Relief valve would be next

Tractor hydraulic raises my 10 foot bush hog with no problems and has lifted anything I've put on the front end loader.

I'll take a coupler off of the bush hog that I know works and try it.

Every few years or so it seems I hook a new piece of equipment to one of my old tractors and run into a problem just like that.  More common last few years.  The new hose tips don’t always want to talk nicely to my old  couplers.

Bush hogged a field of grass today with the 756 and 10 ft bush hog since I couldn't get the disc mower to go up to transport. No pic forgot and left phone in truck.

Fluffed what I cut yesterday. Used the old 41 H and it seemed to do fine, but then again 4th gear and a two basket fluffer isn't much of a load. Started at 5:30 and finished by the headlights. Had planned to bale Saturday, but the weather guessers are calling for isolated storms that morning. As if I needed another kick in the pants...

ETA: somewhat good news; weather idiots have decided to call off the rain for tomorrow. Still cloudy, 90, and humid so likely be miserable baling.

...nothing of great moment.....rebuilt a badly damaged calf shelter...that a rogue breath of wind  hurled it over two fences ...leaving both the fence...and the calf shelter   quite distressed...

We raise around 100 to 150 odd calves....specifically to order....Friesian /  Hereford...and Angus / Friesian...get then at around four /five days old...and rear them to around 100 plus Kilograms....then off they go to new owners...by then the calves are almost tame...thus it suits  the small block holders who don't want   ''wild cattle ''running amok.....

That is the ever reliable MX 100 ....quietly pulling the shelter into place......you can see the hills in the back ground.....that means its going to rain...(...if you can't see them..its raining ..  )

We set up the fences for the '' over width load.''  with permanent wire strainers....and with the ever trusty six inch   Jamestown   made, Crescent spanner...they are a quick fix ..to undo ..then re tension...  Our normal gates around these calf paddocks are 12 foot.....to narrow for the calf shelter

A lot of mowers have 2 latches. The one people miss is somewhere on the frames between the hitch and the cutter bar gearbox, probably closer to the gearbox. Sometimes the rope is supposed to run through a hole in this one one its was to the transport latch, but the assembler forgot or didn't know to do that.

The other thing I might check, since you mention it uses only one hydraulic line. With this setup, there is probably a flow restrictor in the line. It is directional. I should not restrict flow up, but will restrict it going down so the cutter bar doesn't slam into the ground. I have seen this flow restrictor cause lots of problems, including the one you describe. Make sure it is pointing the correct way. If there is a directional arrow, it should point toward the tractor. Some of the restrictors are adjustable, and you may need to loosen it. I have seen then turned pretty much closed when new.

Just a couple suggestions to help, from the guy who used to get the nice phone calls when the new disc mower wouldn't do what it was supposed to.

I had to feed one of those as a kid.  Dad's Walsh flair box and IH seeder have been sitting in the same spot in the shed for probably 30+ years.

Power washed the 756 today. Thought I done a real good job. Went to move it and seen spots where it didn't look like I even touched it with the washer. Grrrrrr    Guess I'll do it again before long.

Hate it when that happens! I need to do mine before winter, but would like to get corn picking and plowing out of the way first.
