IHRedDrive
Our diesel row-crop was built at Farmall in April of '65. Dad used it as a raking tractor among other things. Pretty gutsy well optioned tractor for its day. We decided to restore it a few years back so a few before and after pics. Second rebuild of the original Roosa master pump. Now it's my 3 year old grandson's favorite tractor. He kinda walks next to it and pats his hand on the rear tires whenever he's around it, always asking me to take him out on it. And yeah Rusty, sloooooooooow reverse😄

I'd really like to find 1 just like that except with fast hitch to add to my collection some day.

It'll have a W on the serial tag; mine is very faintly stamped but it's there. Mac

Why is he not a member of this board? He's certainly got what it takes to fit right in around here. Would have a lot of good input too. If I someday own the neighbors I think it will be a great tractor for my #9 rake. How do you know if one has the fast reverser? Could it be indicated by the serial tag? I'm sure the fast reverser is listed on the serial number, I just don't know how it's designated. The 1 and only 504 I saw that had it was sitting on the lot at Jewell Implement in Jewell, IA. That would have been back in the late 90's I suppose. The fast reverser lever is where the TA lever would be otherwise.
acem
My 504 is the smallest tractor on my farm. It's not a tillage tractor here. It's power steering and 3 pt come in handy compared to a letter series tractor. The diesel should have a stronger engine than Mine on lpg.
SaskM
Here is a pic of our 1962 model. Not much for options...swinging drawbar and no power steering.
SMDFarmboy24
Here is mine, a 1966 model. I'd like to use it more for little jobs, but I think the handpump has an issue as it is difficult to steer once it warms up. It was definitely handy with the 3pt rake.

Farmall model does not have a hand pump. Problem is more likely in all the shafts and joints between steering wheel and front bolster.
twostepn2001
l'd forgot about the 504 LP we had on our farm many years ago until ls l saw Mike's post above. lt was a 504 LP on a Hi-Trac frame. Originally bought to use for flame cultivating But also had booms for spraying and a hopper to spread fertilizer. Dad had to run it at night because of the heat from the flame jets plus the noise, he said it was like sitting on top of a jet. Top pic was ours, bottom pic is a advertising pic from when they were new.
acem
I knew a man who worked on a vegetable farm in California. He ran a 504 with front mounted cultivator for years.

I made my own and that fixed it.

Drysleeves
First 504's had a white grille casting in literature. Must've been a short lived paint scheme.

Drysleeves
Screen itself was always white. It was the front cast piece that held the screen that was white for a very short duration.

acem
Mine has Y and FF so it has two pumps? It does have power steering if that matters. What's the X for? Is it rated X?
MacAR
1 hour ago, acem said: What's the X for? My sheet says x is for high speed low and reverse attachment, whatever that is. Your tractor does have two pumps, I think. One for the power steering and one for the hydraulics. At least I think so, anyway. Mac
