Mountain Heritage
4411 sealed headlights in the grill of 982. Key switch is in the on position for lights to be on, test light shows power at all tabs at the headlights. Bulbs work as they are/were tested on 782, they light up nice and bright. Plug them into the 982 spade tabs - NOTHING. What the heck am I missing? The tabs fight together just as tight as they do on the 782, so why is the 982 not lighting them up? Can't find a break in wire - if there was one I'm sure I wouldn't get power to the test light. TOTALLY confused. Is old age setting in that quick on me? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. This one is really stumping me.
Mountain Heritage
Just put test light on again this morning, same on both tractors. 782 has power to the one terminal only, lights work good. But 992 has power on BOTH terminals. Why is there power to both? Shouldn't one be negative without power? So what is happening with my power supply to lights? Worked good in fall? Pto works as it should, blower turns on and off.
Captian Kirk
Check and make sure it's grounded properly. I think those lights are grounded through the body. Both wires being positive can be low and hi beam.
Mountain Heritage
So you are talking the ground to frame from battery, at back of tractor next to solenoid?

Lights are not grounded. Unplug wires from light. Whichever one does not have power now is the ground wire and is not connected to ground. Not sure on this model. On most of my older ones. This is at front casting mounting bolt on right side.
iowaboy1965
I think what captain kirk is saying is power should go to light, then to ground using the other wire. Doubt it has high low beam arraignment but I could be wrong . Snoshoe has an excellent idea.
Mountain Heritage
No high beams on it. Straightnon and of, 11beam strength. That just happens to be zilch right now. 😠
Mr. Plow
Make sure you didn't plug both grounds into one light and both hots into the other.
nate
There is a ground wire on left side where fuel tank support is mounted to frame. I’m betting this is your issue. 1
Mountain Heritage
Have wires separate correctly. Will have a look at the ground wire on the fuel tower.
Captian Kirk
If your getting 12v on both the yellow and black wires you need to chase down the ground wire. I'm thinking it's going to be the black one. You can test the black wire for ground with a tester.
