TractormanMike.mb
There is something very satisfying about mold board plowing when everything is set up well and the soil is turning nicely.

Bermuda_Ken
I love it! If you're good at it (I am) its a blast to do. A properly set plow and weighted tractor make this an easy field task.
Sledgehammer
Great pictures as usual. Plowing is fun to do and fun to watch. I haven’t spent as much time plowing as a lot of folks here but have always enjoyed it and the satisfaction associated with it.
856 Custom
That's getting to be a lost art. There's lots of people on this forum that have and a lot that never have. I have 3 plows and haven't used a one of those since 2019. Lol! Bought a 800 9 bottom plow in 2013. You can atleast see your accomplishing something compared to what I grew up with. A 1086 and a 5x18 720

A 1086 and a 5x18 720 I bought a 5x18 720 for the 1086 Grandpa bought new. Haven’t had the chance to mate them up yet for action but that’s the plan. Excellent plow. Dad said grandpa about crapped his pants when they brought it, 1977. It was around $5000. Dad said once grandpa started using it he forgot about the price real quick. Could make round after round without plugging, compared to the 880 Massey they traded on it.

A 735 would be a little nicer but came later. The price was right on this plow. A friend made me a good deal on it. I’ve put new hydraulic line and new tires on it plus some cleanup and a few west parts. New to me coverboards I picked up years ago cheap.

It's probably shipping cost prohibited, but I have a flat toggle 720 if you ever need cheap parts. That plow would be lucky to bring $500 cut up in 3' section's. I say it every year and it never happens. Get rid of the plows except one, but they seem to go nowhere. Lol. Have 3 semi mount 720s. All toggle trip. 5 bottom one's have parts robbed off them. 6 bottom is complete, yet. Have a 7 bottom 700 slant toggle pull type, complete but worn wear part's. 800 10 bottom, worn wear part's and needs a new front axle. I'm going to keep the 9 bottom 800. Someone needs to pull in here someday and make a offer for all of them and I'll gladly load with the skidloader. Lol

Needs a couple points which I have already. I wouldn’t mind a couple spare 18” moldboards some day. This pairing won’t be an every day setup. I’d like to have it all ready for a plow day in the future or possibly a few rounds at the HCOP if I got my ducks in a row. Not a lot of plowing goes on around here for actual farming purposes. Grandpa stopped plowing in the mid 70’s.
iowaboy1965
I like to plow. Can't say I'm very good at it or setting up a plow but I do like to do it.
from H to 80
The only plowing we do anymore are the gardens with a three bottom fast hitch and occasionally a few terraces with the old 550.
Lazy WP
I like to plow also. For some reason I can plow for days without getting impatient. Discing or cultivating, I get bored and make a mess.
ny bill o
I love to plow. The field looks so nice when the stubble and manure from last year is buried and everything is brown. I have accumulated enough plows to outfit the whole county- 2 6x resets, 1 5xreset, 2 4x, several 3x, God knows how many 2x and a few 1x. Don't see many toggle trips here, just spring resets or trip beam. I have hosted a plow day for our tractor club for many years. Some pictures from there- One year, we had to cancel TOYS plow day, so I had a lineup with my own stuff. 560D/412 plow, 560G/311, 504/3x Little Genius, 200/2x FH, Regular/2x LG

acem
I've never run a plow in a field. Have in a small garden. By the time I was driving a tractor much ( late 70s) they were out of use round here. Chisel plows and disks Instead. They do use some middle busters in cotton ground to pull beds but I use a disk hipper. In other parts of the world the run a turning plow in flooded rice fields. http://www.knowledgebank.irri.org/step-by-step-production/pre-planting/land-preparation/wet-preparation

Lars (midessa)
Learned to plow with an 856, 5-18 720 auto reset. Nothing better than listening to that natural aspired diesel, generally L3, TA forward, wide open throttle. Worked for neighbor for a couple years who had an Oliver 5-16, with auto reset behind a JI Case 1030 Comfort King, nothing slowed that 504 cu. in.

I agree they are rare in Central IL......710/720 was king for the trash clearance on high yielding corn stalks. You didn't by chance buy that one at HCOP a few years back did you? Last one I saw in person was its twin on a trailer at the show. My 1/2 scale plow is based on the 500 series. When we plow with garden tractors we regularly plow 30+ acres on a Friday/Saturday. Great fun, just like a big plow day, just smaller! 50-75 garden tractors in the furrow together is a lot of fun!!!
