nepoweshiekfarmalls
Wow! This week has been busy and this topic was almost forgotten. Any 240 tractors out there?
Big Bud guy
Bought new in 1960. It had a post hole digger on the back and post pounder on the front. It spent 90% if it’s life fencing and running augers at harvest time. It was the first tractor I drove. We had a 2 acre field behind the house and dad let play farmer with it and a 8ft disk. It’s been close to to 15 years since it’s last run but it had never been opened up.

Dzldenny
Actually, I'm currently watching for one of these... Spent much of my youth on one just like this. It had a tiny square rain-cap that played a beautiful melody. Ting-ta-ting ting. The Mrs. favorite tractor is the H right now. I'd like to get a 240 for her. She likes the narrow fronts. The fast hitch would be handy to have around again for raking hay.

I believe I've seen it on here before but don't remember the story. Appears to me some sort of 230/240 morphydite.
55cub
Here is my '58 240. Slowly getting the bugs worked out of it. Funny but true story: last week my wife said she liked the looks of a farmall 240. I said well we've got one. She replied, no we don't. I said go look out in the garage, it's been there for 15 months! 2
mrfred54
The pic with the 4100 in the background, what museum is that. Guessing maybe, Farmall Land USA. Ivoca, Iowa. I might be wrong but that's my guess

Our 240 got hauled down to Indiana and sold off at a consignment sale back in the late 80's early 90's. It ran really well but the fast hitch had been torn out of the lower casting a few times. Everything on the farm was just getting too big for it at the time. Drilled and tapped oversized to put it back together to sell it. We bought a 574 diesel to replace it and a 970 demonstrator came home from the auction as well.

The story was that an IH employee owned it for years. Used it on his acreage.

ny bill o
my 240 was a Chisholm Ryder tractor in its' first life. C-R serial number and all. No emblems, but all kinds of hydraulics. You can see the yellow paint showing thru in places. Farmer that had it turned it into a spraying tractor. Homemade seat supports are 2x4s. I put the roll bar on, and later added a fast hitch from a 230. FH doesn't go down as far as would be nice for operation. I don't know if because hitch is from a 230 or what?
