nate
Anyone go with a different setup for a front driveshaft. Ours stripped out the front coupler at 8600 hours. Replacement parts are around $1500 for a shaft and flange.
Torque
You can use the Magnum U-joint shaft, flanges and yokes. The shaft will need shortened some and the cover will not fit. Probably not any cheaper even with salvage yard parts but will not strip out again. They wear out because the front trunnion bushings get loose and the front axle no longer lines up with the shaft and wears out the splines.
2+2love
I have the magnum drive shaft in my 5488. I didn't make but was done right. Have had Good luck with it so far. Also check trunnion bushings.
nate
Trunion didn’t have any play in it last fall. With the magnum setup how are they putting a flange on the rear?
2+2love
It's a splined yoke that the u joint bolts to. I can take pictures tomorrow.

bitty
I should have a shaft from a burned 7140 we bought unless it was sold already. I'll make sure I save it for a MFD 5x88 if we would get one in the future ....

Yes and you have to take a u joint apart to get the driveshaft off.
