new to the forum but here goes... got a 1086 with PFC system .. the position lever will not raise the 3 point unless the draft lever is all way back ...remotes ( all 3 ) function properly and strong . not new to Internationals but new to this problem .. and too the tractor had been sitting a while before purchase. if anybody has any thoughts on the issue it would be greatly appreciated.

With the draft lever all the way back, the hitch should be up all the way anyhow. With the draft all the way up, and you lower the Position control  the hitch should remain up. Sounds like position control linkage has slipped out of adjustment

thanks for the welcome.......have already checked behind the top link hitch and all is in order....can lower the draft control down about a quarter of the way and control lever lifts three point and lowers it in the back 2 to 3 inches of the slot...and by the way the serial number for this tractor is 261018  3U52281 and  I cannot find that SN anywhere to distinguish the year model

Hard to believe. Seems it has to be linkage. So back to the top. With position control forward. Pull draft lever back. When in the vicinity of 2 inches from the rear of quadrant.  The hitch should start to rise and won't stop until at top or lever is moved forward. When lever is moved forward. Hitch starts to drop and doesn't stop until down. Is this what happens? If not fix this first. If yes. You have a problem with position linkage. It's not all on the outside.

yep , that is just about what happens ... except that the position control lever somewhat raises and lowers  , ( not as correctly as I would think comparing it to my other tractors )... while the draft control is in the back 2 to 2 1/2 inches of the slot... I'll dig a little deeper on the position control ... Thanks

Well I guess I am the one confused. Draft should not be in rear 2 to 2 and1/2"

LOL - so am I , controls are unlike my 1466 and 856 but if I poll the draft control all way back it lifts the 3 point with or without an attachment . i can lower it down to a point 2 to 2 1/2 inches and to relieve the pump strain the control leaver will do the same in the very back of slot , if I move the draft lever any futher towards heavy draft , neither will perform until I take the draft all way back and start the process again . drawing blanks about the issue .  at 70 I got a lotta projects to get rid of but didn't want this to be one of em

Picture I am getting is that position control does nothing unless draft is back. Then does nothing until all the way back and then either raises on drops with no position control. Indicates failure of feed back from rockshaft. That linkage is inside.

It's all inside top cover. It's certainly worth a look in that rear hole. Rather limited to what you can do there. Look for anything broke or disconnected between rockshaft and control valve. It gets kind of complicated as the follow up, position control and draft control all operate the same spool.
