Clark Riley
Where do we need to start? we don't use the tractor except for plowing, as Mom and Dad quit the cattle business 10 yrs ago and the associated corn harvest for the steers. nice to have it working if needed.
nate
Can you turn the Pto by hand with tractor off?? If not I would say the discs are melted together and the hyd brake pads burnt. So you would have to drain oil and pull Pto out of the rear to rebuild. Or that tractor would look good on our farm if you wanted to get rid of the problem! gafarm49
my 1586 pto starts turning when you crank it. let it run for a few seconds turn pto on and then off and it stops and works as it should then. I have a dual pto Im swapping into it this winter

Matt Kirsch
Most likely you will need to remove the PTO unit and overhaul it with new clutches and seals. Either drain the hydraulic oil or park the tractor on a steep downhill before pulling the PTO or you will have a mess. I failed to warn someone about that once and they were not happy when they were standing ankle-deep in hydraulic oil.

If a person has to bad told they need to drain the oil, I think they are in Way over their head..
