I started a serial number list for the 4166’s since no one else has. I started it on December 21st and have 22 listings so far. The info I would like to have is

Serial number

Any Options (cab, open station, hydraulics, 3pt, PTO, bareback, hydraulic hitch, front weights, hours, tire size) stuff like that

Name of owner

City and state (and any info on past life if known)

Of course any contact info will be kept confidential

There is also this same message from me on the Technical IH board. It’s on a pinned topic named Serial Numbers Being Kept Track Of. My post is the the first one on page 5. So if you can’t find this thread you can find my contact info on the Technical IH thread.

Feel free to post your 4166 info here on this thread or PM me here on the forum or email me at jaycemaker@gmail.com. I wanted to start a list because my great grandpa bought one new on December 4th, 1974. I have its serial number and it is recorded, just haven’t found the tractor yet! Plus it is my favorite IH tractor model. Thank you!

@billonthefarm according to one location yours was at there was 4,323 hours on it. I noticed yours has a fender radio in it. I’ve not been able to figure out yet, if that was the radio in those tractors and they were just mounted above you to the right (I did see that on one) because there isn’t a radio insert up by the heater and AC controls. The one my great grandpa bought says radio was put in at no cost.

I would too. Unfortunately, no pictures of his 4166 has been located. Ironically, there is pictures of the 1206 Wheatland he bought new then traded in for the 41 and there are pictures of the JD 8630 that my great uncle traded in the 41 for in about 1981.

Here is the 1206 in 1967.

and here is a copy of the BOS for the 4166. My grandparents have the original.

This tractor is in a pasture about 20 miles from my house. l don't have any info on it. lt has been sitting there at least 20 years that l know of. l first saw it while hauling crude oil to a nearby pipeline injection point. Later my wife and l went and took this pic of it. lt sits about 100 yards off the road so she had to use a zoom lens. Don't show in the pic but it's hooked to a pretty big disc.
