They used to have outstanding pot pies, too.

I forgot about those. The only pot pies that didn't taste like a$$.

They still are around here, we used to get some stuff from them but prices are outrageous. Some stuff is very good, some stuff is not so good but it is all pricey. Truck used to stop here every 2 weeks but have not seen them in awhile. We just order online and they deliver it on whatever day they are in this area.

Is home delivery a requirement? The frozen meals aisle of your nearest Walmart Supercenter has a better variety, better quality, and better prices.

We got Schwann's when I was a kid. I never thought any of it was particularly good.

She doesn’t get out much anymore and when they are i GA they live on an island with no bridge. I thought this would be easier for her. They take Deliveries at the marina where they rent storage space and park vehicles.
its not like they will starve, i just thought easy shopping and low hassle delivery with good variety. I see Schwann trucks around here, I assume they have it there.

Walmart may have better prices but quality and variety I would debate. Might depend on the your local store.

And kudos  to Vtfireman85  for trying to make life easier for your inlaws. It sounds like delivery could be a good deal for them if available.

The more convenient life in GA is, the longer they stay there😉

I didn’t know they were still in business.  They used to be popular but then got bought out and the new owners ended truck deliveries and that pretty much ended them.  I liked their ice cream products but not much else from them.

Still seeing trucks delivering to homes in northern Illinois

I’ll give some more useless information.  Like I said earlier, they quit truck deliveries.  Last I knew, if you wanted something from Schawns, you ordered online and the stuff was delivered in a cooler by UPS.

Wrong. I just saw the Schwan's truck on the delivery route on my way home from work today. They have never quit delivery service in my area near Bismarck ND. I believe they use diesel trucks now instead of propane. The truck I saw today was diesel anyway. They still come to my town once a week.

As long as I can remember their trucks were the koolest looking delivery vehicles.

We ended up sending about $100 worth of frozen stuff, mostly chicken based to them in GA, know they got it safe, haven’t heard reports or if they continued service. They should be back next week, i will ask.

They definitely are (c)kool! Especially on the inside! When I was in jr.  high was about the time they first showed up in our town. Loved the Scooter Crunch Bars!

Schwan’s at one time had ‘Peppermint’ flavored ice cream, that did not have those pesky candy chips, I thought it was great. But as others have said, prices are outrageous.

That was seasonal ice cream, my wife's favorite. One of the few things I actually bought from them. I got lots of freebies though. First ones were somewhat melted ice cream and novelties. The local manager called me and asked if I liked ice cream. I was driving a 83 long bed ranger at the time. He filled the box almost level full. Turned out a driver had left the truck out in the sun over a holiday weekend without plugging it in and no one had checked on it. I think he might have just been happy it was less he had to pay for in dumpster fees. I once got about a case and a half of tuna fillets that were about to expire so they had to be removed from the freezer. Late Friday afternoons was a good time for pizza. The Tony's / Red Baron trucks would come in off their routs and dump all the short dated pizza. If it was still frozen I would take them home. My biggest score was when I was asked just after Thanksgiving if I could take a spare pizza truck and get it defrosted. They didn't want it back until after Christmas. When I said I would I was told there were 28 cases (280 pizzas) in the box that had to be gone when the truck was returned. There was a family next door that had eight kids and another good friend that had two teenage sons. They all ate a lot of pizza that month

I serviced the trucks from the local depot at my shop for about 20 years. First worked on them while I worked for the IH dealership in 1976. Left there in Nov 84. Started my own shop April of 85. In 1986 I got a call from the local manage asking if I would service there trucks. Did that until July of 09 when GM quit building medium duty trucks.

Those pictures of those "duck" trucks can bring back some memories. The paint color is Inca Gold. Dodge truck paint color from the early 50's. Marvin Schwan started out with a dodge panel truck of that color.
