Did something I’ve wanted to do for several years.

November 17th in my Ag Sales Class down here at West Texas A&M I did a sales presentation (or pitch) with the Case IH 2150 Early Riser Planter. The Ag equipment sales side of things I have been interested in since I found IH films back in 2014-2015. Who knows, Ag Sales might be a future career.

The project started in September when we could pick a product of our choice. I chose the Early Riser because I already knew some about it since IH first introduced the Early Riser in 1980 and the Cyclo Air in 1971. There was a CaseIH dealer east of Amarillo where I spoke with a salesman so that was fun and he helped me some through the project. We had assignments to turn in over the ensuing weeks. To get ready for the presentation I brought in my CaseIH 2000 series brochure from 2020 and an IH Early Riser foldout brochure from 1984 (which came out of the FarmallLand USA Museum). In my collection I didn’t really have a full brochure of the Cyclo Air planter so I went to eBay and bought the brochure you see below, from 1976. I thought these two older brochure would be great visuals to show the reliability of air power in planters. Of course I spent more time in the 2020 brochure since I was selling a 2150. For the actual presentation we had one person as a “customer” that was actually a sales rep in the industry (equipment for my group). When I asked about his operation after sitting down at the table he made up the scenario of just taking over the farm and didn’t know anything about planters. My plan turned out even better than I hoped during the presentation because I used my older brochures to talk about where the 2000 series planters originated from and how accurate they are in seed placement and population. Then of course I talked about all features and benefits of the 2150. We could present for 5-6 minutes but could go up to 10 which is probably what I did. I had a lot of fun with it!

Anyhow, since you all here speak this language I thought some may find it interesting. 13902EC9-FDB5-43DD-A1A9-ABDAE994EB05.thumb.jpeg.bfcdab817975d70034aa9ded1d15a123.jpeg

I will also say. I used a couple IH films for some info. One from 1974 and one from 1980 that Orion Samuelson was in. The latter one is on Farmingtonimplement DVD #15. So from that I used words like seed ecology, capilary action, and perforation. Pretty fun, my final grade was a 91%. Wish it was a little higher but I was thankful to have an opportunity like this.

I saw the topic and have to add that there are several things I've wanted to do for years, but almost all would get me arrested. Sorry, couldn't help myself. OK, back to my hole.

On topic, I'm sure you had fun, not just your presentation but sitting around 'talking shop'.

I enjoy the replies! It was a good time!
