....with his sheep, congregated upon a bluff? He must have his spyglass out to check up on the status of the black billy over the camp fire. :vD

Mike....

I saw this cover picture & thought of you down undah, in NZ with all the sheep. Don't think you were around in 1928, but if you were..... you have aged well, sir! Also, I think that's the Alps in the background? The AT apparently didn't believe in cover photo credits, so its just a guess.

Regards!

.....Absent Minded    Farmer   ???     Uhmmm   !!!!

....In 1928.....I was..to coin  a phrase  , still   swinging around in "'Dadsbag"" (*)....and the release point came early in 1942..(this by mathmatical   deduction....) thus there is no valid claim to being that ''sheep herder''   depicted on that American   Thresherman    magazine......                                                                                                           My journey through life has been littered with  incidents best left untold...and even on the ''School of Hard Knocks ''  honours board   , where my name  might have been , there would be a short notation...''Could have done better  ''..or  some  similar condescending   epitaph...

..thus   , now  as just a grotesque parody of  the young man I once was...it is highly doubtful that my visage will ever grace the cover of a magazine    ...... further more, as I slip seamlessly   into senility....(along it would seem ,  with some of my Red Power friends......  )  ...things like the ''finish line ''  must loom ever closer....:)

Anyway,  '' Mike the AMF ''  I enclose a photo of my "Rumpelstiltskin '  like visage...thus confirming the  diminishing years (  now 80 )...and the resultant   fossil  look captured a few days gone..on a very warm spring day on the adjacent Molesworth Station

...always a picture of sartorial elegance..very little blubber......Levi's  /black woollen singlet/  Canadian made braces and my old battered  American made  Stetson...which despite its well used appearance  , keeps  NZ's severe   UV rays at bay ...plus it doubles as a ''rain ' hat......and, by the way,  I still drink  (black)  billy tea..in copious quantities

Thankyou, AMF, for you  flattering comments :D

Always good to see a fellow forum member out in your natural habitat. Never ceases to amaze me that you can take a picture anywhere in NZ & have it look like it should be on the cover of National Geographic. That must be your secret to staying motivated. That scenery would certainly keep me young at heart, even as my body clunks along.

My question for Mr. Newman is,

When is he going to quit stalling and take up the OFFICIALLY recognized native language of the Maoris, and what will his Maori name be?

Quote

The¬†MńĀori language¬†of the indigenous¬†MńĀori people¬†has been an official language by statute since 1987, with rights and obligations to use it defined by the¬†Maori Language Act 1987.[20]¬†

He can then show us his tattoos also.

...couple of points there Art.....you have made the presumption   that I may be ''stalling''   in respect of learning a language that the English  Linguistic help create for  13% of our population...this many years gone.....

Well..you are 100% correct

I belong to the older..Conservative group   of Kiwi's.....We have a cartel  of Socialist hags pushing their unwanted agenda  on the peasants....ideaology that has only  destructive  and divisive accord  ...which seems to be the new 'normal''  in all our respective countries...This agenda  in respect of so called indigenous people  is tearing our little country apart....These  left wing  clowns here have re written our history...to make it all warm and fuzzy...so you cannot read about the early Maori getting a protein boost from a neighbouring  tribe..."'eats...roots   and leaves  '' was the  axiom that defined early  ''homo   erectus'' in New Zealand ( NB)

I am just over this bullshit Art..the entitlement of various sectors..  so many useless young people....you cannot voice your displeasure in the media  any longer..or the '''hate speech '' police'person'  will bash your door down.....anyone wanting a ''partner''   needs to check the prospective partners  plumbing set up....The health and safety brigade that has gone nuts...this constant brain washing about  the flu..the climate ...petrol running at north of $11.00 NZ  per imperial gallon...after the socialists in a breathtaking blow to the peasants  killed our oli refinery and shut downour oil wells   and gas fields   etc etc etc

....no doubt about it..the Venezuela  'blue print '' is the way forward for the socialists

...and now the Maori language is all over the TV..and could be made compulsory in schools..this at a time where our education standards have declined alarmingly

Mike

NB.....that 'quote'  applies to tthe ground bird called the Kiwi.....however in the '' roots...eats and leaves''    order...which , of course is no longer socially acceptable..applied to the ''early settlers  ''...For the non  Australasians   here.....it translates to exchange body fluids  ...then feast upon the  luckless victim...............

And MURDER your family and pets in the process (And you all thought that only James Bond had a "license to kill".

Which IS exactly why I feel as I do about law enforcement, well, that plus their utter contempt for the Constitution (Bill of Rights).
