756puller
Anyone use a Milwaukee transfer pump for pumping oil? Just found out about them and looks like a handy little thing for pumping oil in the middle of a field if need be.
nomorejohndeere
For water oil would be too thick
Super A_sepa
I've pumped fuel with one, not sure I've done any hyd oil. I think the guy I borrowed it from used it for hyd oil though.
hippy5488
i use them to pump hyd. oilout of tractors. take 3 point top link cover off stick hose in till hits bottom turn on. less than 5 min later all but about one 5 gal. bucket is out of 06 thru 86 series. lots better and faster than buckets under tractor. only need 1 bucket to get all the oil out. did pump 80 90 with it a couple times worked for that to. when done i put dish soap and water in a bucket stick hoses in it circulate for a little while then let it suck bucket dry. cleans the pump and hoses good so can pump new oil
oleman
Is it a wobble diaphragm design or a centrifugal design or something else? I use a frame rail type fuel pump from an 88 Ford F350 for my fuel cleaner. It runs off jumper cables to the host 12 V battery. I have only used it on diesel. The fuel is filtered and returned to the tank BUT can empty a 20 gallon tank in a few minutes. Made from extra pieces of previous projects. dale560
They work great for water or fuel. Have one we just bought at work for pumping out fire hydrants. A really good oil pump is a old oil pump from a car engine with a hose coupling made onto intake and a couple made onto outlet. Run it with a cordless drill and they pump oil well. yellowrosefarm
We bought one for work and found out that they are not waterproof, or even particularly water resistant. The circuit board inside is not protected and if it gets wet, the pump is dead. For us, it was a bad hose washer and the operator didn't think a little water getting sprayed on the pump would hurt it. The pump itself is a centrifugal, similar to an outboard motor. They do work very well, just don't let liquid get sprayed on it.

WishIhada1466
I have had one for around two years. I use it several times a week. I use it to pump fuel from fuel tanks when I need to split a tractor. I've pumped over 1000 gallons of hydraulic oil. Pumped some 15w40 and some 50w. It has never missed a lick. I have used it a few times for water as well. I've got hoses made up for it that I store in a 5 gallon bucket in my service truck.

Cliff Neubauer
Good to know that it will work for oil. I bought the M12 Stick pump last spring and it works slick for pumping water out of holes for fixing water or tile lines.
Missouri Mule
We use them at work for oil non stop. They are tough little pumps with replaceable impellers. We regularly pump mineral oil and thicker viscosity. They pump slower with heavy oil obviously but work great. Ours have been soaked with oil, water you name it. We put barbed 3/4" fittings and rubber hose similar to heater hose. I've pumped 4 -55 gallon drums of oil at a time and they love it.
