Cheap auction prices

The interest in those old tractors, with a few exceptions like the Super MTA, seems to be waning.

Parts guys are up to their eyeballs in "letter series" parts and scrap is low too.

Doesn't help that it's out in the middle of "East Nowhere," Montana either, LOL...

Seems like they were about free.  Kind of sad.  I guess Kubota has replaced a lot of them on the small acreage and the guys that farmed with them as their main or only tractor back in the day are fading.

I've been chastised before but I'm always in a hurry farming and I just can't get things done fast enough with them.

Yes those are cheap prices. There is still a lot of interest in these old girls. My son and I were watching that auction and I think a few things led to the low prices. Basically none of the tractors said if they ran or not or if the engines were stuck. High prices for fuel to truck them from Montana. There was a local, Central Minnesota, online auction that just ended with a bunch of old tractors and equipment in about the same shape as this sale and a fair amount of it brought very good prices. But they had a good description on what shape each tractor was in and hauling is a lot closer and cheaper, to the Central states. Just my thoughts.

Well shoot, great prices but… the wrong side of the state!!  Literally totally opposite side for me. I’m 33 miles from Idaho and Froid is about the same from North Dakota. 😂  Montana is a BIG state!

I thought about buying a 560 parts tractor recently from close to Billings but it went for too much with the cost to bring it home for me to pull the trigger.  That would have been a 6 hour drive. Froid is another 3 hours I think.

There was a W-4 closer to home that went for $1500 a couple months ago. Just depends on the location. I wouldn’t mind adding a W-4 and a W-6 to my collection but just have to run into the right situation.

We drug this SMTA and Cub home from a sale about 4 hours away. If you want it, you’ll have to travel out here to go get it.

I can't explain the prices that online auctions have been bringing here. If it's reputable auctioneer and its listed well they bring at least 50% more than what I think they are worth,I cannot buy a tractor currently at an auction to resell Location most likely is a factor in the above prices IMHO

I would also say the location was a large part of it. A SW6 sold on a fall consignment sale in NW IA and that sold for 3600.00. Most of the old tractors on that sell sold strong.

I was at a sale yesterday here in Pennsylvania.Ed Leaman had it.H's that ran,had carb and mag work, lights worked. One had new clutch, like new tires, and both straight tin and original paint. If I remember correctly one brought 650 other 750.I think that they will only get cheaper. They are only collector tractors now more for the most part and as that they aren't rare.I thought man they are cheap enough but I have no need for one.I guess maybe they be a roller bar rake puller on flat ground. Even with no live pto if you put a syclebar on them it would be a pain. Not many people in my area even have roller bar rakes anymore.I even pull double rakes and with my hills it be suicide if it could do it at all which I would not even try. Also with the crappy gas if I didn't run it it would just be a headache. I sure wouldn't base my retirement on a tractor collection. I think if you want them to enjoy them that's great and buy them. Happiness is worth more  than money.
