1955farmall400
Hey guys, I just picked up a 666 with a wide front and was looking at eventually swapping it to a narrow front end. My question is what all narrow front bolsters would be compatible with that tractor?
snoshoe
If you get the hubs and wheels with it. Anything from an M to a 1466. If you want spindles to use your hubs that narrows it down and I can't answer your question.
Super A_sepa
I think from a light 460 through a heavy 1456, 1066 T post will fit. The small frame already has the wet bolster the same as the older series so nothing as far as the bolster should need changed. If you can find a post with hubs that would be the easiest, I know there are differences in some hub/bearing sizes as far as what fits and what won't but I don't know what they are. I think the 460 type or early/light posts used smaller bearings then were used on like a 706 post.

Just unbolt the wide front and bolt the narrow front (sometimes called a "pedestal") to the plate where the steering arm for the wide front was. IH Forever
Too bad you aren't closer. I have a 656 with a narrow front. I'd love to trade you my narrow front pedestal for your wide front.

So will the pedestal off a 4 or 560 fit? They seem to be the most plentiful in my area.

cedar farm
If it has a loader on it look for a 560, 706, 806. Most 460/656's had the small spindles and bearings. The small spindle used a 3/4 nut and the large a 7/8 nut.
