IHC5488
Changed out the valve block and solenoid today on the hydraulic reverser, do these crack or fail often? Or is just as simple as rebuilding with new O-rings ?
tractorholic
I’m curious why you changed yours? If it cracks, rebuilding is out of the question. That being said I had mine crack. I think the aluminum housing is a poor idea. That being said my 2577 has a reverser and It has cost me a lot of downtime over the years and I probably have used it about three times. I have thought about removing it as it seems like I could reverse it with the wrench and it would be waaaay cheaper.
axial_al
Had one crack on my 2366. Later combines had an accumulator device to cushion the hydraulic shock. You can retro-fit earlier combines.
IHC5488
I am just having a hard time thinking that aluminum valve block cracked. I did find another one to put on the combine and we are back up and running again. In the meantime, also ordered a accumulater kit for the reverser. I just figured if the o-rings went out on the block or were trashed, I could rebuild it for a spare.
