My view this evening.  Broke the bow out a week ago for the first time in probably 5 years.  Spent some time shooting it.  Had 15 deer in sight before dark.  A spring fawn and a spike type buck 5 yards away.  Was scared to dig my phone out for photos and spook them. Have 2 in the freezer dont really need more.  To my left is a little 2+ acre triticale field.  It must taste like candy to them.  I wonder how much tonage they eat.20221111_160532.thumb.jpg.2a684f3667640bb2828cd4d1239ce271.jpg

Great view!

Not the best picture. He was turning...Cell phone...tree....bow in hand....  I had him under me yesterday afternoon. Maybe I should have shot him. I understand he is a good deer but brother and I are trying to manage the property as best we can for really good deer and I know a deer that could be his daddy was fairly close by also. I’m guessing that deer is 3.5 yrs old and would score around 130-135” probably. Still an awesome deer to see. Good luck gentlemen!

Very decent buck Todd.

Yes you could have put him on your wall or..............continue to let him contribute to the genetics of your population.

He is in his prime now.

There will come a time when he no longer contributes and it can even be considered humane to put him down.

I think you made the right call.

DT fan that is a great buck with awesome character

I'm under the weather with a cold and today I missed church. We have Sunday hunting today and the next two Sundays. I suffered a long walk with my one boy and we saw 9 doe and a small buck. I was absolutely miserable and he was cold so we were going to move to a blind for better windbreaker. On the way we saw two shooters for him at 200 yards. Nicer one is limping bad on his right front foot. Other one was dominant as he responded to calling after checking out the doe group and came downwind of us at 40 yards in the brush

We have the same issue with ground shrinkage around here. Must be some deficiency in the soils that shrink the antlers upon contact 😁

First buck for the youngest grandson of a friend of mine.

A friends son was out caking bulls when he saw this buck and called his dad, told him he better come and get it.

"Not without the grandkids" so he called school, drove into town and brought them out for the "hunt".

His hands are not small by any means, this buck has mass.

This morning. Weighed 245 before dressing. 10pts  Good mature deer which is what brother and I were looking for.  image.thumb.jpeg.de3875c2a58cb5beafb36067f8fae031.jpeg

Big body at 245.  I feel like the farm deer are always bigger then the mountain deer in the northern part of our state.
