I don’t think he’s going to change his mind, but I could be wrong?! If he does, well then he has a pretty decent trucking bill to pay! That was the agreement! Trade the bill for the tractor.
Farmall1066
I got to welcome home the 1566/68 today! It was 78* yesterday, still 65* this morning, so I grabbed the new fuel hose, and stopped at the parts store, got a 12v battery, and a few other things. Within a few minutes, it was running! It runs ok, I might have to have the nozzles rebuilt, and put a turbo on it, it had no get up and go, and hills I wondered if I’d make it to the top?! 🤞🏻🤔 It probably needs fuel, and air filters to be better, but I drove it 12 miles home, trouble free!! It doesn’t smoke very much, so maybe it needs a turn on the fuel screw? TA is out, of course, I just can’t tell if it’s stuck in direct, or low? My dad followed me home, said I was doing 20 mph by my pickup, but it sure didn’t feel like 20, felt more like 15! Tonight, the 15 finds itself undercover the first time in probably 20-25 years! 23
Wes806
Glad to hear that you got it running and home now. At least now you can work on it easier as time allows.

stronger800
Yep. I like it. Few bottles of rubbing compound on there…… new filters first though

This ole girl is far from perfect! Its like anything I’ve bought lately, another money pit project!! If not for being so close to my dads 1568, I wouldn’t have touched it! 4 hours ago, stronger800 said: Yep. I like it. I’ve not had much success with some 66 hood panels were the paint is rough with what looks like rust coming through?!

stronger800
I don’t know exactly how well it will clean up, but it’s still really cool and I’m glad you got it. You know it would match better if you took six of those weights off the front (that are probably just stressing the axle and liable to make it fall off tomorrow)…,and sold those to me
stronger800
I suspect a fuel issue with your low power situation. We bought a four-cylinder tractor years ago that ran perfectly smooth, started excellent, ran really good but was noticeably low on power compared to our other machine that was exactly the same. Figured it was just the way it was going to be. Five or six years later it needed a head gasket and when we lifted the head off we could see that the injector holes were half carboned over. Put in a new set of injectors. Picked up the horsepower that it was missing. Previous owner did not use it very often, or very hard at all. That’s my guess, nozzles need some help, put new fuel filters, and air filters on it, and see how it acts. A lot of rust, and rust dust came out of the exhaust when I first got it running, so there’s a possibility the turbo could need replacement as well? B.B.
I for one will sleep soundly tonight knowing that stray found a good home! I'm sure as time allows you'll get it checked over and up and running like it should be. If the pickup was saying 20 I'd say it's in high on the TA. 15mph is about top speed at pto speed for a 15 so if the TA was in low I don't think the truck would read 20. I really like a 15. Good stout tractor. Congrats on saving that one! Neat tractor to have around and certainly will start many conversations with any enthusiast who really takes a look at it! I’m glad this was like a good relaxing bedtime story for you!! 🤣🤣👍🏻👍🏻 With harvest going back in to full swing tomorrow, and winter around the corner, the 15 might just find its spot in the shed for the time being. I have a 1256W that’s in a million pieces right now, so that has to get put back together at some point, and the 856 I grew up on comes in the shop next. It sure felt slow for 20 mph, but I haven’t drove a 3 spd trans tractor in years! 22 minutes ago, nepoweshiekfarmalls said: Looks decent away from the weed patch! I changed oil for the ride home, it needs fuel filters for sure, I should really change the hydraulic oil and filter too, that may happen yet this fall if it stays warm, or we get another rain day!
