FarmallFan
The Continental engine was used on some IH balers but I don't know if they were available as a stand-alone power unit from IH.
russtred
It was also used on pull type combines, like the 52R and 62R.
MacAR
I can't tell you a darn thing about it, other than I'd like to have it! That's a pretty interesting power unit to be sure, looks like it has a Farmall Cub gearbox on it? Not something you see every day. 12_Guy
I don't think that is a cub transmission. I'm not really sure why you would even need it. Obviously to slow things down but with that small pulley it doesn't seem necessary. It looks like someone added some throttle linkage to the clutch. I suppose it could be factory as well. That could be pretty handy if you are engaging/disengaging often. It also has an IH H4 magneto. Nice
oldscoutdiesel
I have one just like it but need to get it running. I have an owner's manual for it, and it came off of a combine. The air cleaner has the basket at the top of a 5' pipe for the flour sack filter to put on it so the oil bath air cleaner doesn't have to work so hard. The straight exhaust pipe has no muffler and is also about 5' long. The transmission on yours was probably put there as an easy way to mount a belt pulley to the engine. Little Red
thanks for the replies so far. this unit was sitting at another farm place, the widow that lived at the place was cleaning up the farm place. the unit im sure was used for different jobs around the farm when her grandpa operated the farm, the unit was parked by a buzz saw. she wanted the saw blade off of buzz saw and said if i would get the blade off for her i could have the unit. hopefully this winter i can get it running. IKS
My guess is to paint a picture on it for wall decor.
