IHhogfarmer
I just scrolled down and saw your thread about the 856, such a clean machine👍
Long Farms
There's a roll pin on end of the threaded end. Will lock down when it hits threads in housing. Anyone is welcome to stop by when in North East TX. Just give me plenty of heads up.
DT Fan
Doubt if I ever get to Texas, but if I do, stopping at your place is number one on my list!
Hy1066
Do you have a solution for worn out ball sockets on the lower 3 point arms? Have you fixed any of these on your 1456s?
Long Farms
Yank em off and toss em in a pile and find better condition arms. No way to build them up and look right. Plenty of them in salvage yards. Ive parted out several 1466s, 1086s, 1466s and 1486s to better my 3pts. Added 2 sets per wheel of 400078r2 wheel weights. Even installed IH square head bolts. Dont get to use them too often because they are hard to come by and i normally stack on more weights.

Farmall1066
That looks like a completely different tractor already!! It cleaned up nice, and looks great with you additions, and putting things back in place!!
stronger800
In your first pics, is that trans brake rod something different? Maybe it’s 1456 standard and I’ve just never noticed. Pretty rare around here in NY.
Long Farms
Aftermarket spring loaded rod. Some like them and some dont. Adjusted right with stock rod you wont get gear grind but these help even more i think. I didnt get a pic, but had to pull trans bottom cover off to replace the shaft o ring. The brake pad still looked good.
stronger800
We’ve never had one wear out, but I always buy a new one, then put it up to the old one, shake head, and install it anyway. I don’t think I’ve ever seen one more than maybe 20% worn, will they actually wear right down in thickness? I should learn the correct sequence for making the fine adjustments. Have a good neighbor that’s good. he always sets us up.
Farmall1066
I replaced 1 where it wore the pad off, and was metal on metal, to the point it wore through where the pad should be!
