Knock off Milwaukee batteries

Contractor buddy tried the “yellow” ones for his dewalt stuff. Think he bought a four or six pack of the best rated ones he could find…..and he said they were junk.  I hate the price on original batteries….but man they are good.   The 1/2” hammer drill or hammer drill and 1/4” driver kits can be purchased for only $100 more than buying two new 5a batteries.

Be VERY cautious charging them.  Co worker had an aftermarket drill battery catch on fire in his attached house garage.

I bought some knock-off batteries for my old Bosch Brute many years ago.  The factory 14.4 batts ran over 16V fully charged, and the knock-offs only charged a little over 14.  So performance was a little weak.  And they failed sooner than the genuine thing.  They did get me by till I could upgrade to the M18 stuff.  They weren't a really bad buy, but I won't do it again.

I have two M18 1.5 ah batts that I use daily and have since 2014.  That's hard to beat.

You can find some economy by shopping marketplace.....

That means cash not business card so may not work for you....

And likely stolen. I engrave all my tools, name and date.
always some strange story goes along with market place power tools too🙄

I wondered about that too.

I don't recommend it.  We bought a few of them by accident thinking that they were genuine Milwaukee batteries.  They did not last very long in our fleet.  Thankfully, they have all been recycled.

Not necessarily.

People sell all kinds of stuff for all kinds of reasons.

Reselling pallet returns, parts of kits they don't need, changing or updating to a different brand or next generation, finished with a project and don't need any longer, changed jobs and don't need.....

Have you ever sold anything that's not stolen?

Neighbor lost a shed due to battery / charger failure around midnight about ah year ago. Prompted me to come home and build a charging station. 12 hour time clock operates a powerstrip that all chargers are connected to. That way I am always here when chargers are in charge mode. Comes on at 6a and goes off at 6p

China made knock off batteries are very prone to starting fires. I refuse to buy them.

No.

It’d be different if you were a poor plumber, barely squeaking by. But you electricians have enough jingle in your pocket to buy the real deal!!!

Don't buy them, lots of reports of them starting on fire. I personally wouldn't buy anything that wasn't backed. Yea, we just bought two new Milwaukee brand ones and it hurt, but a local disposal company just burnt down. Came back to the battery chargers in the shed. Sounds like he has a lawyer and is going to bat. Another farmer I know of was in for lunch and said his barn caught fire. Luckily to him it was in the milkroom and the doors were shut. Was able to get it out with the garden hose. It started where the battery charger was on his bench.
