I could start a halfway decent hardware assortment with the stuff that is in a plastic container on my shelf where I put the stuff from my pockets.

Funny story, local cattle jockey/beef farmer and his son were working around there farm one day. They were going between barns when all of a sudden the dad started yelling. The son thought he got a leg cramp because he was grabbing his leg. Then the dad dropped his pants right there, he had a syringe with an open needle in his pocket and stuck himself with it.

I check my pockets since I have disabled two washing machines with hardware.

Looks like it could hurt sitting down on a hard surface . Mine always has a minimum of a few ear plugs mixed in

My mother always had a glass jar or coffee can on top of the washing machine. She’d empty dad’s pockets, into that container.  Then eventually move this container full of random hardware to the closet.  When I got married and moved out (and needed to start buying my own  hardware/supplies for use around my off-farm house) I quickly decided to grab a few of those hardware containers out of moms closet.  That will be 20 years ago this month and I still occasionally go sort through those jars when I need something.  I also have a small bucket that came from my wife’s Grandfather. An item out of it has saved me a few bucks and a trip to the hardware store way more than once.
.22 shells and soap stones included.

My wife starting doing this with the stuff I took out of my pockets and put on top of the fridge. I didn't realize that was the purpose of the new bowl up there, but when I did figure it out I found all kinds of stuff I had been looking for.😄

I was a Walmart the other day, they had a clear bucket of items that had been removed from tires in their normal automotive repair service. Didn't know Walmart people had a sense of humor until I read the sign, "Consider a road hazard warrantee"

My wife brought her car home  one day with a 1/4"- 6" extension in the left font tread, the tire was making a crunching noise but held air.
