Turbo806
last time I used 806, I noticed light would come on at low rpm. Today I added some hytran, not really low,and mowed for couple of hours. When I stopped I noticed light was staying on at lower rpm. It will go out at 18-2200 or flicker. If I pull TA back into TA position, light will go out. If I put lever to DD it will come on. Is this the sign the TA is leaking on high side? I was doing this while in neautral. MCV pump not that old. Whats everyones thoughts? JaredT
Have you checked clutch, T/A dump valve and Trans brake adjustments? I am no expert, but I think out of adjustment of those items will cause that light to be active?
FARMALL FIXER
On the 06's keep in mind the engine oil pressure shares the same light as the mcv lube light . Either low engine oul pressure or the MCV lube pressure can turn the light on , unless it has been modified .
Turbo806
I am going to change filter and make necessary adjustments to see if that helps and report back. Good to be reminded about oil pressure as well, but leaning more towards hydraulic pressure due to moving torque arm forward or back would activate the light coming on and off. Turbo806
today was able to work on 806. Changed out trans filter. The old one had some gray slimy substance on outside of filter the screen filter was clean though. My issue with light being on went away. Thought all was good, mowed for hour and half and light started flickering again. Same symptoms, low rpm light on, can pull arm in TA and light goes out. Not sure if new filter is now plugged. The slimy stuff on old filter has me concerned. Any idea on what could cause this to gel?
IHC_1470
Pull the 3 point top cover and feel inside the housing. Had a 1650 Cub one time that had only ever had hytran in it that got a gray waxy substance on the inside. Change the oil and cleaned it best I could and never had anymore issues. Really never figured out what caused it to wax up. When was the last time the transmission oil was changed. Might be worth doing that first. Turbo806
fluid was changed maybe 5 years ago. used a hy tran universal fluid and have added true hy tran to fluid as needed. Dont like mixing, but supposedly compatible. All hydraulics are working properly, torque not slipping that I can feel. Could this be a weak pressure switch causing the light to come on? You would need to hook a gauge to it to know if it was switch or really has low pressure. The slime is water or moisture build up in your oil. Sounds like past time to change hytran again.
Turbo806
bought 3 buckets of hytran and filter yesterday. I would like to check pressures. Will need to acquire gauge setup. I am assuming there is a port on the mcv to take pressures from? Have not done this before, so new to me. What kind of pressures should this have at idle/2200rpm's? iowaboy1965
I believe there is a port on the underside of the mcv valve that you hook to for checking pressure. Think it takes an o ring style hyd fitting. Some call it John deere fitting? Others with more experience can give you better guidance or you can get a manual or Google it as it's been talked about before on a number of occasions here. snoshoe
Sending unit port gets you lube pressure. Plug under steering relief valve will get you regulated pressure. Plug at either end of flow divider spool or the steering orifice plug will get you steering pressure. Normal lube would be 20-30 lbs. Original regulated was nominal 180. Don't be surprised to find 220-250. Steering should be 1900-2200. Note rpm it takes to reach relief or regulated pressure. Check regulated with lever in TA DD and mid position.
