Roche7795
Restoring a Custom Cab for a 1456, does anyone know who offers the best interior kits? Or am I better off sourcing materials myself? Thanks in advance.
Matt Kirsch
I don't think there's much choice. It's either Fehr or make your own as far as I know.
Roche7795
Thank you! I appreciate the response. How about for the cab bushings? I’m guessing I will just need to find something similar to factory but if there’s any that are recommended I would rather go that route
Nebraska1206
These are pictures of the IH Diamond Cab that my brother and I just refurbished for my 1456. The cab foam upholstery kit and the door seal kits were from Fehr Cab. Now, the only downside is that their upholstery kit is for a 66 series Diamond Cab, and not a 26/56 series Diamond Cab. There are subtle differences which will require some cutting and trimming. If you order from them, be sure to tell them it's for a 56 series, and they'll include some additional foam that you can cut and shape to fit the areas the 66 series kit doesn't normally cover. As for the rubber ISO mount bushings, I never found a source for replacements. We ended up reusing my old ones, they were still in decent shape.
nepoweshiekfarmalls
When I put cab foam in the diamond cab on my 856 back in the 90's, I had to cut my own from bulk. Nobody made a kit then.
Roche7795
Awesome thank you all! I will look into that kit.
Senecaagman
Fehr made me these custom covers for the batteries and should still have the pattern on-hand if interested.
acem
About 20 years ago I got a set of cab bushings for my 1066 diamond cab from the local Navistar dealer. They were nla from cih. I took the old ones to the truck dealer and asked if they had anything similar. Turs out it was the same as a truck cab mount they had on the shelf! Sorry, I don't have the part number anymore. Matt Kirsch
If you're unable to find anything else it looks like a bog standard hockey puck might make a serviceable cab bushing... Wouldn't be the first time someone used hockey pucks to hold up a vehicle body.

I will have to check on one of those! What did you do for boots around the pedals?

I can tell you that on mine, we used the pedal boots that Fehr offers for the 66 series. We just didn't use the boot retainer plates for a 66 series (even though I did find a NOS set)
Senecaagman
I also used the boots from Fehr
JohnHoffman
Nebraska1206, do you have any pics showing the cab on the tractor? Inside looks sharp! Nice job!

stronger800
I can’t buy a fancy A/C setup like Nebraska1206’s though, since I put this $100 radio in the way

Man, your 1466 reminds me so much of one I used to see South of Norfolk, NE ever so often. Same setup, 1466, Diamond cab, Firestone Field & Road rear tires (20.8-38's on the one I remember), and factory IH muffler.
