Probably the reason I could afford it lol. It's got a few dents and dings. But still looks good at 50' 3
junkandcattle
I went 15 hp per wheel last year on about 60 acres because the ride was much nicer
Reichow7120
Have ran a 5 bar JD rolabar rake on our 2 7120s a couple of times. One time we were down a couple of tractors and at the time we didn't have the bullpen we have now to pull from. Used the FWA 7120 that time. Second time we had hay down in a couple of places miles apart. Didn't want to pull tractors off of the one place to rake at the other. The 2wd 7120 was sitting there on the haybine waiting for me to cut the rest. So we pulled one of our rakes over with the pickup and raked with that. Not quite as much of overkill but still plenty. Pulled a 6 row corn planter with a 7230 Magnum we bought last year to upgrade to a 12 row planter. Planter didn't come but we still used the tractor until we had a problem with it 3/4 the way through corn planting and it got parked until after planting for fixing. Also ran a ancient New Holland 850 round baler with the 7230 a couple weeks ago. It was unhooked so with a PTO adapter it ran it.
nc1112
Our magnum has been used plenty to pull small bar rake or haybine either because it was handy or had the best ac. Same bar rake and small 22' disk was pulled with the steiger because it happened to be the free tractor at the time.

If you ever got stuck in a wet spot with the Steiger pulling the rake it would mean you really shouldn’t have been there. If the neighbors seen it, people would talk about it for years.🤣
Big Bud guy
For us JD 8300 on a 348 square baler. My cousin ran his post pounder on a JD 8295R because the parking brake didn’t work on their 5488.
db1486
We've pulled the 14 wheel v rake with the 4494 a few times, round baled with it. 3788 running a 10" swing auger. Sometimes you gotta use what's available if another goes down. Then there has been a few years, and I think this year might be the same, where we needed a 4wd to pull the rake it was so wet. A couple times I sunk the 766 bad enough on the hay fields we just parked it and put the 4166 on it. Probably the funniest looking setup we had for a while was a 70 foot 500 gallon wheeled boom sprayer behind the 4494. It handled it no problem lol. Looked hilarious but never got stuck. Actually had to be careful with it because if you went though too much water it was hard on the booms lol. I don't miss that sprayer lol
885
Raked hay with a v rake and a f150 before. Just went round and round cause the truck didn't have hydraulics lol. Pulled a 4 basket tedder that only needed a 35 hp tractor with a 120 horse tractor because it had air conditioning. Pulled a old 2 row corn planter with a 80 hp tractor.

I could really get into that sort of thing with AC. Even a cab wide open. Baking in the sun, not for me

oleman
BUT how can you afford to rake at the cost of operation per hour on that machine? Our little D179 powered 464 does not burn 1 GPH running that little size rake. But you do have climate control and all the other nifty features! acem
I've moved round bales of hay with my 4366. It was baled late in the Fallon some wet ground. We got a big rain... it was the only thing I had that would get it out! My neighbor is pulling his 20ft jd 750 with his jd 9400. It wasn't hooked up to anything. Thx-Ace. When I was a kid a guy up the road rented the neighbors alfalfa field and raked it regularly with his pickup. For 2 or 3 years. He didn’t want to road the tractor a couple miles. B.B.
Growing up I raked a lot of hay on a JD H and an Allis B and a C. The orange tractors was my dad’s and the H belonged to my great uncle Roscoe who lived across street. 88 series with AC would of been a dream to that kid lol
1256pickett
I can’t find the picture but I went the other way a few years ago. Moving stuff around in the shed and had the round baler hooked to my cub 185.
