Jealous. I’ve been lusting for a W450 gas for some time. Wouldn’t need it either but man do those machines look cool. Good for you. This one was at RPRU.

Is a gas start switch to Diesel engine.  No pony motor on it

How does gas start switch to Diesel work? I’ve never seen one. Does gas temporally run through some other portion the injection pump? Does it have a mini carburetor on it? I really have no idea. I’ve been meaning to try to look it up on a parts diagram so that I could maybe understand, as it’s been mentioned on here twice now within the last week. Thanks

Here is Red Power Thread about it

I've bought a lot of "wants".....certainly way more than my "need" purchases!!!!   Nice old 400, well done!

As the seller has demonstrated his lack of knowledge, offer him HALF of whatever he has it priced at.

OR, pay him double, or better, since he has one of the very rare "pony start" IH Diesels.

YOUR choice.

I told the wife the only thing that would make it better would be if it was a W450  . Todd , I think I should find you one and you can come up and grab a 720 3 bottom plow as well🤠

This is the 4th one I have owned, The last one I sold to my nephew and my brother has one as well. I would like to get the 3 of them to a plowday

A long time ago I only had the 400 available so I worked 12 acres and planted with it. I pulled the same disc as my 656 and I may have a delusional memory but I think it handled it as good as the 656 . They were /are an old horse and are one of the tractors that don't underwhelm in the field.

You and I are thinking along the same lines for sure @hillman I have a 4 btm #70 plow here already. I think that would be a good match for a plow day.      I drooled all over the W450 at the show. It is a diesel and I want a gasser someday.  Nice machine though for sure.

  • 1 month later...

its been a while since I made small squares but the Grandkids rabbits eat a lot of 3nd cutting. I don't have wagons anymore but I saved a bale buncher from the scrapper a few years ago. The old 400 worked just fine
