axial_al
There is a convenience store at Maustin along that route that has a pretty good cheese selection as well as New Glarus beer we stop at. Not sure where Bloomer is though.
Driver1
There are several at the Mauston exit, there is another one at Madison at the Hwy 19 exit.
Absent Minded Farmer
Was trying to think of a good place around J-ville & found out the couple I knew of had been closed for years. Might just hit up the cheese section at most any Woodman's. They stock a majority of the good cheeses found in this state. Unless you really have a penchant to visit a cheese store, of course. Think all the good Ma & Pa stores in that area are gone too. The times..... they are a changin'.... Mike
Driver1
Also there is a Festival food store at the hwy 26 exit at Janesville they have a pretty well stocked deli.and it easy of and on the freeway.
vtfireman85
Why, would someone with access to Cabot want some of that swill? Like buying NY syrup.
5488ih
While ur shopping, look for Vern’s string cheese. Malcores cheese curds & Laacks or Star dairy brick cheese of various flavors. Always grab cheese curds from the far back of the pile. As they will be the freshest & most squeaky.
VacDaddyt
You are too far south, I would have said Nelson Cheese factory otherwise.
5488ih
Looks like Woodmans grocery store is just west of the interstate on hwy 14. They will have the the largest selection u will find of cheese anywhere. Or anything else for that matter. Love that store.

TractormanMike.mb
Whenever I go that way I always stop at Kugels cheese store in Lena Wisconsin, about a half hour north of green bay and maybe just a tad out of your way. They are right next to a cheese factory and usually have fresh cheese curds.

I bought some Cabot "Seriously Sharp" yellow cheddar last weekend to put in some quiche (daughters requested their dad make quiche for fathers' day - how's that work?). It's seriously good. Will buy more.

We don’t need to cover anything up here , so we don’t need to dye our cheese orange 😉 seriously though, vt cheddar is known to be dryer and more bitter than other cheeses. Chilton is a long ways from where you will be, but I buy it at a little store in Prairie du Chien so I assume you can find it at other stores too. 12 hours ago, VacDaddyt said: You are too far south, I would have said Nelson Cheese factory otherwise. I assume you are referring to the Nelson Cheese factory/creamery? When I was a kid my aunt and uncle had a place on lake Pepin. I loved going over to Nelson for ice cream and cheese.
