Fixed. Hitting on all cylinders again (for now) even got new slippy juice and strainer, lightning whirler and electric hoses.

And the cam on that still has enough lobe to run

Must be beer o'clock over there

Good thing I charged a couple hundred bucks to fix that forklift... sent it all out the tailpipe today🤣 met up with about 7 other cars and went for a power tour today. Covered about 250 miles, stopped for lunch, couple burnouts, power slides, raced another square body on the way home. Local fella, ended up pulling into the gas station and talking trucks. He’s got a nice clean ‘84 swb fleet side. Cool guy, he was laughing when we rolled on it and I pulled away said as soon as he heard me he knew he was done. Had a nicely built 350 in it and I didn’t just dust him into a speck in the rear view, he was pulling hard too. Not hard enough though 🤪

Going to be some serious fan work and new metal going into the front frame but I’m pretty happy with how she’s sitting. Can probably even get it a few inches farther ahead which would really help with the firewall and future maintenance. Doubt I’ll be able to get the starter on or off with Out pulling the engine though... maybe with some more crossmember surgery. Man I have the best/worst ideas when I’ve got a cold snack in hand...

Working on a t00b amp last night and this morning. She’s alive, just have to wire up permanently and mount that toroidal transformer down in the bottom of the speaker cabinet. Nasty little guy... almost 600vdc B+

Pilot bushing failed in the truck, took out the front bearing retainer.  No other damage internally in the transmission. Got a roller pilot bearing coming tomorrow, going to double check the bell housing alignment but pretty sure the bushing was just a little too snug. Guess I’m machining a new bearing retainer today as super T-10 parts are like hens teeth on the island or just about anywhere other than Richmond gear. Going to pull the ‘64 Oldsmobile up to the shop this afternoon also and measure the cam lobe lift make sure it’s the issue. Trever making good progress on forklifts too. Got them advertised on a friends website and getting some interest. Might have a dart block for the 598 build if a couple sell...

Not wild about those if they fail it takes out the input shaft and the alignment of the bell housing  is more critical

Had to go find some welding gas today, got the frame put back together enough to roll it out finally. It’s been bolted to the floor for WAY too long. Engine sits nice now with the original suspension. Got a full bay back!

I’ve had good luck with them, I don’t tend to sit with the clutch in but I’m this application there is potential for a high rpm differential between the input shaft and pilot bushing if even for a split second intermittently. I think that bronze bushing was probably a little snug, a little dry on oil and she just grabbed and trashed. I felt the squeal once or twice and figured the engine was coming out this fall anyways so I let it ride hoping it had made itself a little clearance and boy did it ever!

Back at n the day when I raced DIRT modifieds there was a guy got busted for that. The cars were fabricated chassis and the NOS tank was built into the 2x4 tube of the main frame rails. All plumbed through the back of the engine block and under the intake just like your picture. He would suddenly make a dash for the front of the pack in the last couple laps...

Trever pretty much finished this forklift now. It’s sold and will be delivered this week I guess, just going to put the lights back on and run a couple wires, back up beeper needs to go on. Got two sold since Friday, almost back into the black on this deal, bank will be happy, might be ordering a DART block for the 598 soon at this rate...

Next forklift in, sold getting worked over and ready to go. King pin bearings, two hydraulic lines to replace and general PDI and she’s gone. Trans out of the truck. Tore down to nothing and I don’t see anything that would cause a noise in 3rd and 4th only... it’s in the trans, I can feel it in the shifter but don’t see much wrong.
