AngrySailor
Fug it. Ordered these. They have a more square profile with a 15” section width and 13 1/2” tread width. Much more square than any others I’ve found. Stiff sidewall and a bit harder compound than the ultra soft jobbies. They’re also at the cheap end of the drag slick or any tire in this size price range. One M/T SR street radial is as much as a pair of these. I’ve used M/T E.T. Street drag slicks before and they were soft side wall, acceptable to drive but definitely soft on corners so these should be fine, kinda know what to expect and a cornering machine this is not. One problem, These are not DOT but nothing a tire groover and a red hot letter stamp can’t fix! I’ll have to tub the box and alter my back spacing to fit them how I want though. Don’t think I have to move the springs for these. Pops building coming along, got the garage door installed (himself) and the second floors sheeting down. Maybe the old fart doesn’t need my help? Oh yeah and I quit my job today. Making one more trip and leaving on good terms. Got a call from the previous company (who I never imagined would ever call back) and I must resign or return. Looking at seniority and other issues I think I had to accept the offer to return. They’re probably going to shitcan me but whatever. Might be the kick in the azz to step up my game from home, tired of being away so much.
hardtail
Flat roof or dance floor? Sorry should have read more, good compromise if you can fit them in, what was the work schedule with the original job?

Man cave upstairs, shop below. I have enough seniority to pretty much be sure of 6 weeks on 6 weeks off which works better for me. No cargo maintenance duty either. I rarely leave the engine room.

I have a single disc metallic clutch that I’ll most likely melt even with the ‘54 and would turn into the “elephants foot” and melt through the bell housing if used on the 496, so I figured to keep it in stock unhurt to sell with the ‘54 and pick up a proper clutch that can handle the 496. Get my last orders in to pick up before I leave work... this bad boy should do the trick...

They’re engineered joists and worked out well as pops wanted the ground floor free span. Think it’s 28x32 and the joists are the 28’ span I believe. Hard to do that with lumber.

AngrySailor
Parts arrived. These tires should look good laid down on Main Street. They better think twice before painting some rainbow crosswalk! 5
AngrySailor
Couldn’t resist pulling the clutch apart for a look. Pretty bad ass and McLeod says it’s reasonably streetable and capable of 800ft/lb clutch drops with drag slicks... we’ll see. I got a 2 step box and I’ll have an adjustable low limit in reach of the drivers seat. Dial it at say 4000rpm, floor it and dump the clutch which will switch to the high limit chip. Dial the low chip as Traction allows. Dis gonbe fun or it’s gonna break parts! 5

Haven’t read the instructions cuz you know, who does that! Anyways been busy, spent a few days with ST and survived. Back home now for the truck out of storage yesterday. Rechecked piston to valve clearance as I only gave it a quickie before I bolted the heads down. Big blocks are generally pretty roomy but these heads are cut a ton, the pistons were cut 0.020 on the flat areas but not the domes so I lost some clearance there also. She’s coming it at 0.115” on the exhaust with zero lash so I’m good but it is tight...

Remember that Austin Mini I did some work on?... yeah not good. Buddy Daryll is ok but has 4 busted ribs, punctuated lung and some teeth missing... other driver at fault and was a jacked up truck...
