TC5 man
I am looking for source of information to show me the steps to remove the engine to replace ring gear. While it’s out should I do a rebuild on entire engine the machine is a TC5. Serial # C 10819 with a Drott Skid Shovel
R190
Does it need a rebuild? Without knowing more it would be foolish to give advice on rebuilding it . As far as pulling the engine I know of no resource jut the adviise to unhook everythng and I am pretty sure you must pull the radiator and support to slide the engine forward and lift out. t
hardtail
I think he needs to replace the flywheel ring gear?
TC5 man
Thanks I appreciate the two replies that I have received. The problem has been solved. After a more detailed inspection with my inspection camera and bumping my head a couple dozen times I have determined the ring gear is fine. Starter definitely will be replaced as the mounting flange had broken in a couple of places and the starter was not in a proper position on a starting attempt and it incurred some damage. The whole exercise was an incentive to lose some weight to make It easier to get under the machine. thanks again

If you have a blade and the machine is running you can cheat a bit by pushing up two parallel mounds and running the dozer up on them
