oldtanker
Whoever took the video conveniently tilted the cam a lot. Look at the trees and buildings in some bits of that. Steep ground to be sure but the cam work make it look steeper than it really is. Folks in west Europe don't have the land that is available to farm in the US, east Europe and Russia and several other areas of the world. We know that food is an item of national security for any nation. Unfortunately for almost all of west Europe, Germany, the "low countries" France, Spain, Italy, Switzerland. Portugal and the British isles they really don't have enough farm land to feed themselves. They tend to make use of every available square foot. Rick No you are wrong about the camera it does look that way in the Emmental region of Switzerland I have been there a number of times, and in the area I used to live we had hills like that too and the trees do grow like that there. When it comes to farm land well the last 50 to 60 years lots of land got build over by useless buildings some where in the last 20 years huge shopping mals and etc. And Switzerland population is over 8 million now and over 2 million of those are immigrants . In WW2 the Swiss pop. was around 4 million and the country was mostly self sufficent when it came to growing its own food. Number of farms in the 1920s was over 200 000 today sadly the number is down to 48 800. Ever since the government got rid of the tariffs on imports and stopped buying the grain from the farmers to give them a fair price and since the Milk quota is gone it went downhill after and giving farmers money threw subsities they can force new rules on them.
