jmwi
On my 966 engine dipstick the rubber is getting compressed from over 50 years of use. It is getting harder to get the dipstick tight when you check the oil. Can you get the rubber piece new anywhere ? Or is there something I can do to make it work better ? Thanks, Jesse
GaryK
I suggest getting a whole new dipstick. Over the years metal fatigue develops from taking it in and out and they do break. Many years ago had to drop the oil pan on a 1066 to get the broken piece out.
MinnesotaFarmall
I think you could go to a dealer and just order the plug part. Ours screw off of the dipstick itself.
Mike56073
It’s only available as a complete dipstick. Part # 671829C3, sells for 60 bucks
brahamfireman
Order the 1066 dipstick for a little more oil capacity.
Matt Kirsch
The online parts book doesn't list the rubber separately. Part number for the 966 dipstick is 671829C3 and runs $60.00.
ksfarmdude
The ones I've seen are not suppose to be taken apart the tighten screw in the plate is staked pretty well to keep it from falling apart
DirtBoyz07
I have taken them apart and just flip the rubber over and put it back together and it will seal up until you get the new one 👍 Danny
