D282 706 oil filter

Went to get a oil filter for my 706. Dealer said he only lists a cartridge type, but mine has a spin on.  On mine the mouth of the spin on filter is down. So anyone know what the right filter number is?

probably has the spin on changeover attachment. I have one on my 560 and it takes the same filter as a 1086

Perhaps my concern is unfounded but there's only so much you can do with a spin on adapter, so they're all going to look alike.

We're just guessing that you have this one particular spin on adapter. My concern is you could have a different one that takes a different filter, so it would probably be best if you could get a number off the filters on the tractor now.

I never minded the cartridge filter at all on my tractors with the 282 D engine as for drain back that splitting hairs never worried about that at all The cartridge filter are lower priced and easy to change so I stayed with them

I wish we had converted to spin-ons 30 years ago. I don’t like kneeling down trying to look up at that o-ring at all and the feeling in my fingers is so bad I can never really be sure that it’s in place unless I look —but I’m paranoid like that. Plus with a spin on it’s really easy to fill them with oil ahead of time if you want to, on our 8’s anyways
