Farewell to a Friend

Recommended Posts

Today was the Celebration of Life for Dave H.; a co worker, friend and tractor enthusiast.   He was a gifted Ford and 2 cylinder JD mechanic,  but he worked on all makes.  He never told anyone no, when they asked for his help ( to his detriment).  We lost Dave right at the end of last year and his family invited all who cared about him for one last party.

I apologize for the off brand tractors,  but these were Dave's passion.   Hope you enjoy.Screenshot_20211229-184738_Dropbox.thumb.jpg.296b8041f8c4e4f6ec8f75292f5860d4.jpg

 quite a collection!

He had more when he passed away!  His family sold many plows, tractors,  unfinished projects and piles of parts already.  This was the best of the best.

He had a red Ford picker on a red 6000 Commander, a 3020 with a loader, a MM, a Wards....

Sounds like a heckuva nice gentleman.

And nice tribute.

I personally like a celebration of life to honor someone who has passed.

A great way to honor a life well lived.

May he rest in peace.

Great pics Aaron. Good talking to you yesterday.

I think those picker tractors will be working one day this fall. Fellow that lives a few miles from Dave's place puts on a 'Pickin and Plowin' day every year. Always a fun day. I asked him yesterday if I should bring a bigger tractor/plow this year to make up for Dave's absence?

Dave gave me advice several times over the years. Was up at his place a few times but it's been years. Hadn't seen him but a few times since Maytag shut down. Didn't realize he had so many tractors.

Dave was one of several quite a guys, local legends or maybe semi infamous characters we lost in the last few years. I was shocked at the time I heard he passed.  Rip Dave

It and the other 'big' Ford are either the 6000 or Commander 6000 series.

The red and gray 6000 tractors were repainted to blue and gray after being sent back to the factory to have the problems the early ones had, resolved, and either returned to the previous owner, or to the dealers for resale.  The Commander 6000s were released a couple of years later, at about the same time as the 4010 became the 4020.

Personally, I always liked the look of the Ford 6000.

I can’t say I agree and that I like the look. But they are definitely unique, the grill is kind of “futuristic”.

That 560 actually belongs to a neighbor. That was his transportation to the celebration.

That is Old F20 on this forum.  Dave taught him how to rebuild the Roosamaster pump off that 560.  20220430_132827.thumb.jpg.40303ea653ddc68b790eb44d3e17ad8f.jpg

That makes sense. I believe he had that at Struther's plow-day a couple of years ago.

Dave lived 2.5 miles as the crow flies from my place. I drove the 560D over since he taught me how to build Roosa pumps and my 560D was the first one I did on my own.

Has the crawler turbo setup with an updated AC 190XT turbo on it. I think Dave had a soft spot for that tractor since it showed off his teaching skills and that ole girl just flat gets it.

Dave was one he** of a good guy and I miss getting to have a beer and BS with him
