vtfireman85
Our daughter is having some stuffy nose issues, no apparent illness, just constantly stuffy and it seems to be interfering with her speep (and ours) . Despite all efforts, we live in a dusty house, with a dog that sheds relentlessly and 1 1/2 cats and wood heat cleaned surfaces have a layer of dust in a day or so. i keep thinking an air purifier would/might help, i look online but the number of choices are dizzying and the reviews are all over the map. Most give some clap trap about nano this and “patented technology” without much real explanation. i want to do allergy testing, hopefully it turns up cats as a major issue 😁good excuse to get rid of 2 useless flea bags. any experience or advice here? JaredT
Not sure on the air purifiers, but our house gets dry throughout the winter. I have a whole house humidifier to maintain the moisture levels, but when the stuffy noses start upstairs in the kids bedrooms, we use a diffuser and some peppermint, thieves and lemon oils. I am not a fan of using that stuff all the time, but when needed it seems to relax the airway, especially a hacking cough and let them sleep.
int 504
How do you prepare the thieves for use in the diffuser?

I shoot thieves, usually throw them in a friend’s wood boiler after laying in the yard for a couple days.
iowaboy1965
We have one but I will have to look at the brand. A disposable paper air filter and a charcoal filter in front of that also disposable. It seems to help. Tho how much I can't quantify
sandhiller
Wife has had this air purifier going non stop since I can't remember when. Does it help? Like Doug, can't really say, probably. Wifey thinks so, so good enough for me. The flora and fauna in our house would rival a National park 😲😄 Also have this little humidifier when the air gets dry and yeah for a small room, if works. I think you’re gonna want a humidifier? Dry air with the woodstove?

iowaboy1965
We have an Alexa pure aire? Think that's right. I looked earlier. I can tell a difference tho I think we are long overdue to replace the charcoal part. Probably the paper filter too as far as that goes.

New Englander
Dry, dog and cat dander and tree pollen is waay high right now. Reminds me to change the filter in the air handler. Look at Dyson. Not cheap!

Mudfly
https://filterqueen.com/products/air-purifier-defender I know of this brand. It is a quality product. Not sure how it compares to others but the company has been around for quite some time. Not cheap either. Take a look at their website at least. Added: I forgot it actually is rated by the FDA. Not sure if all brands are or not. their vacuum cleaners are good, but ridiculously priced. Edited May 1, 2022 by Mudfly
DirtBoyz07
My wife just bought two of them , Air Doctor is the brand , so far I’m impressed. Our house is not that old but living out here in the country , wind everyday , dust dirt and my wife having really bad allergies she had to get something extra even though we have the extra stuff on our furnace the extra filter system is keeping her breathing easy 👍 Danny
