766 Man
The problem with "doing something about it" is there is no shortage of idiots with ample time on their hands. This is what is going to do us in. I said it before in that when the handouts stop coming and there is no pay raise coming from the private sector all heck is going to break loose which I predict to be late summer-early fall. The problem is that quite a number of people are flat out disconnected from how the country works. The economy and how it functions should be covered while a person is in school but clearly is not.

Brought a load of clear dsl in to Cody last night. Jumped the price from 4.70 to 5.22. It blew past the $5 ceiling I had thought. Here in flyover country always behind the trendsetting coasts. No hurry to keep up with you guys. Pull the belt another notch tighter but not looking to put more holes in the belt. Hang in there gentlemen.

Lisa and I were talking the other day about her sales and how they DIED, a couple weeks ago. I told her I think it’s because all of us truckers thought fuel would stay below 5 bucks here in the Heartland.
boog
Fuel supplier delivered 3,500 gal of red diesel Sunday. Price was $4.36 Not unusual for us to go thru 500 gal / day when running in the field. Bought my first diesel tractor in '71 (806), diesel was 16ct / gal.

1256pickett
We got something going on here in our corner of western ny. Possibly a gas war. Got 2 local stations with new owners in last year or so. They have always been within a few hours to match prices up or down and within 2-3 cents of the rest of the county. It’s been 2 days since the kwik fill went up to $4.35 gas and $6.09 diesel. The Valero is still $4.21 and $5.29.
TWB
Yesterday at our local Co-op farm fuel ( red dye diesel ) was $ 4.59 at the pump and road diesel was $ 5.09. Going be a lot more money just in fuel cost to put up hay this spring and probably fall too. Highest road diesel price I seen is $ 5.29.

New Englander
Jet fuel prices are just as bad. I uplifted 1000 gallons (less than 1/4 capacity) in NY (Teterboro) yesterday at a discounted 8.89 gallon. The math is easy. When I was at Eastern back before the Arab oil embargo jet fuel was around .07/gal. Good thing as the Jurassic jets gobbled it up at a fantastic rate. Our fuel budget is blown through the roof! Of course EVERYONE'S fuel budget is blown through the roof. I've been driving with the "egg" between my foot and gas pedal, observing the speed limit, no idling, squeezing out an additional 1-2 mpg.

I managed to average 21.5MPG with my pick up that has an off-road bumper by setting the cruse at 67 on a 500 mile road trip. I normally drive it at 75MPH and never got any better than 19MPG That drag coeffect is exponential when the front tires are totally exposed with that type bumper

1256pickett
I’ve heard unsubstantiated rumors of more than just high prices coming soon. Again I say unsubstantiated but you don’t want to be caught off guard. I’ve heard shortages of diesel in a few weeks. This could get bad.
