Fuel prices

Our fuel costs are pretty close to yours in the bigger cities. But away from the large cities road diesel is rising.  Had a road trip this weekend, $6.89 for diesel in Cantwell.  Some of the very remote places are astronomical, but flying fuel in will do that.

The larger problem these off the beaten path communities are starting to face is power generation, which is predominantly diesel.  Seems solar has limited use here when the sun doesn’t come up for three months in the winter.  Anyway, they are looking at over 40 cents a kWhr and rising.

SE Pennsylvania - on-road diesel $5.99

Sadly we are more.  Berks county local Sunoco went to $6.59 today.  I would have to look for a receipt but I know I filled my off road diesel tank for under $2 gallon two years ago.

Just a different view from "up here" in sunny South Africa:

Our petrol (gasoline) price works out to about just over $5.07 per US gallon.

We buy our gas in liters, so I had to use my coverting app to give you the data...

Price per liter is just over ZAR21,20 (US$1,34) x 3,78 (liters/US gallon)..

On our recent trip to the UK, it worked out to about US$ 1.95 per liter, or US$7.37 per US gallon...

On my way in to work this morning; diesel ranged from 5.99 to 6.79(!) Never have seen such a difference between stations.

Bought my off road back in early February, thought that was bad, little did I know!

Just like when someone talks about banning guns, gun sales go through the roof. Say you’re going to ban internal combustion and the oil companies have never been better. How high will gas and diesel be the year before it’s illegal? Why would anyone be producing it and risk being  stuck with product and an investment that you’ll never get paid back for. Who would invest in something that is attempting to be forced out of business? This whole situation is like starting a restaurant in 2020 that the local health department won’t allow you to open for business.

All the talk about banning internal combustion engines can’t and won’t work for many years. Look at the volunteer fire departments like Sandhillers. They rely heavily upon Army surplus vehicles, and I don’t think they have any electric 2 ton 6X6 to donate yet. Strictly a scare tactic that should motivate rational thinkers into action!

A "scare tactic" that is knowingly and happily 'reported' on as 'truth' by the MEDIA.

BTW, one can NOT mention on here the L-word (of either persuasion) that appeared on one of the Sunday morning 'news' analysis programs that said that the fertilizer/fuel shortages/high prices were a good thing as it would FORCE farmers to "transition to green energy", and "traditional agricultural practices".

A headline from The Washington Examiner:

IF you remember, it was I who predicted the return of "planting two fish per hill of corn".

That is only the start of it better get your fill of beef now

They had a image from the Fart Detector on the liberal news the other night

It detected all the farts at someone's cattle lot

All cows will need  a methane recovery system soon

Farm diesel, right now, in NY, local guys all calling around…..$5.90.    On road is $6.00-6.40

Wow. Filled up the tractor last week for a little under $6 per gallon, farm diesel. And that is in the Netherlands, the country with the second highest fuel prices. On road $7.90 ish if you find the cheap pumps. Prices have come down quite a bit after the governement reduced the taxes on fuel. Cheap gas was €2.50 per liter, now €2.10. Diesel was €2.40, now €2.00.

87 octane ethanol blend is $4.39/gal

on-road diesel is $5.39/gal.

these prices are a 1 hour drive from a refinery.

The problem with "doing something about it" is there is no shortage of idiots with ample time on their hands.  This is what is going to do us in.  I said it before in that when the handouts stop coming and there is no pay raise coming from the private sector all heck is going to break loose which I predict to be late summer-early fall.

This country runs on oil and gas, the green idiots just can't grasp that fact.

The problem is that quite a number of people are flat out disconnected from how the country works.  The economy and how it functions should be covered while a person is in school but clearly is not.

Brought a load of clear dsl in to Cody last night.

Jumped the price from 4.70 to 5.22.

It blew past the $5 ceiling I had thought.

Here in flyover country always behind the trendsetting coasts.

No hurry to keep up with you guys.

Pull the belt another notch tighter but not looking to put more holes in the belt.

Hang in there gentlemen.

Lisa and I were talking the other day about her sales and how they DIED, a couple weeks ago. I told her I think it’s because all of us truckers thought fuel would stay below 5 bucks here in the Heartland.

Fuel supplier delivered 3,500 gal of red diesel Sunday. Price was $4.36 Not unusual for us to go thru 500 gal / day when running in the field. Bought my first diesel tractor in '71 (806), diesel was 16ct / gal.

We got something going on here in our corner of western ny. Possibly a gas war. Got 2 local stations with new owners in last year or so. They have always been within a few hours to match prices up or down and within 2-3 cents of the rest of the county. It’s been 2 days since the kwik fill went up to $4.35 gas and $6.09 diesel. The Valero is still $4.21 and $5.29.

Yesterday at our local Co-op farm fuel ( red dye diesel ) was $ 4.59 at the pump and road diesel was $ 5.09. Going be a lot more money just in fuel cost to put up hay this spring and probably fall too. Highest road diesel price I seen is $ 5.29.

I screwed up and didn’t get a fuel code this morning for a penny cheaper. I could have easily broken a grand for fuel
