If it comes on instantly and it's a temperature light something is wrong with the wiring or sending unit

There are four possible red lights. The yellow arrow in my picture is pointing to a light that is red and comes on when you push the foot-n-inch pedal down.It should go out when the engine is running and you do not have the foot-n-inch pedal depressed.  The green arrow is pointing to the EGT light and the blue arrow is pointing the the transmission oil temperature light. If the red light is in the same area as the yellow arrow and has waves in the picture, it's the coolant level light.

That is the low coolant light by the yellow arrow if I'm not mistaken My 1086 would come on and off occasioanally also I changed out the sensor once and it didn't help it woul stll glow after that I'd smack the dash and it would go out figured it had some kind of ground problem after that I just kept an eye on the coolant level and ignored it

Unless my memory is totally twisted again that light is controlled by a flow sensor behind foot and inch valve. So no flow no light. Possible exception. Self test when key first turned on. Not positive on that. Constant illumination with no oil flowing through foot and inch would indicate faulty sensor or grounded wire to sensor. Again possible problem in self test module if present, but unlikely.
