Hammer straps, older tractors

Where can I get a hammer strap for a 5488?  Looking for anything that will work, can be aftermarket, which I assume would be all that's out there.  I believe the same strap fits on the boxcar Magnums but not sure

Thanks, Matt

All states ag parts might have something new aftermarket. I actually made one from an old draw bar that broke that worked really well.

Do you have the straight drawbar or the dropped one ? Neighbors 5088 has the drawbar with the bend and we had to slide one of our used Magnum drawbars in with a hammer strap we had. I'd call a few junkyards

Straight bar on the 54.   I would assume that it doesn't need to hold alot of weight, just keep the pin in!!

Most hammer strap equipment has the possibility of negative toung weight and putting upward pressure on the drawbar

My 5488 has a boxcar magnum style, straight drawbars.  On the 66 series tractors I bought a couple aftermarket ones and they work well but not as big of a load as the 54 gets.

Built one for the 10 shortly after it arrived here. Found a piece of scrap that was near perfect for the job. One cut with the saw, drilled three holes, welded the pieces together, wala! Have never used it in nine years now. I do know where it is if need arises though.

Have you tried any of the big salvage yards?

I looked at All States Ag Parts.  Haven't looked since.

Google showed some businesses that may have them.

My local welding shop can make one as well ....I was just wondering about how big to make the spacing if the tongue or clevis is 2¾" thick...3½" maybe???

Do you have any pictures or part numbers?

I’ll try to get a picture this afternoon. I know it’s a Drop-Pin branded hitch that I got from the dealer.
