xtal_01
Hello! I am trying to help the farmer across the street (I live in VT and am surrounded by farms) find parts for a 633 International Harvester. He needs a clutch (just finished putting a head gasket on it). He still uses it daily to clean out his horse barn. The S/N is D030400D005131 From what I can tell there are three possible clutches ... all double ... two made by LUK and one made by Fichtel and Sachs. Can anyone tell from the serial number which we have? Local dealer is useless ... I found parts he couldn't and I don't know anything about tractors (I am a machinist by trade .. but since moving to VT about 10 years ago, I can say I have worked dozens of pieces of farm equipment ... learning on the fly). E-mailed the factory and they would not help, said to go to the dealer. Here is a link to the page showing the three clutches case / IH 633 parts page if you got to "04 - Drive Train" , it shows the three clutches Thanks! Matt Kirsch
You have one of maybe a handful of 633 tractors in the United States, assuming VT means Vermont. From my quick preliminary research, it's a German built tractor sold primarily in Europe. Here in the states it's considered and oddball orphan. So it's pretty understandable that it's going to be difficult to find parts for it. Anything specific to that model won't be stocked by US dealers. Most parts guys will stare at you like you've sprouted a third arm from your forehead when you ask about a 633. Half will tell you there is no such model. Your best bet to find information is to head to Europe. Maybe you can find a CaseIH dealer there that will work with you. Most likely you will need to have parts shipped in from a German dealer for this. In the absence of a way to determine the clutch from the serial number, the only way to know what clutch you have is to split the tractor and remove the clutch. Then again, it may not matter which clutch you use, as long as the clutch disks and pressure plate match. Does the parts book call for a different flywheel for each clutch type? Then again again, there may only be one clutch type still available, and the choice will be made for you. Once you have the clutch out, you may find that all you need to do is have the discs relined by a clutch shop. This will be quicker, most likely cheaper, and definitely less frustrating than trying to source parts from overseas.

Jeff-C-IL
I agree with Matt. You are just going to have to split the tractor to find out whats in there. Highly unlikely you will find a s/n reference. Relined clutch plates may be a viable option in this case. Of course, now that I posted this, the very next poster will have all the info at his fingertips.....

Mike Not sure what the difference may be, but I did a little snooping around & found four parts machines listed on Tractorhouse. They're all up on Canada. That tells me you might want to direct your search north of the border. Here's a link to those machines: https://www.tractorhouse.com/listings/dismantled-machines/international/633/farm-equipment Hope that is of some help, if not for the clutch, maybe some other piece. vtfireman85
Howdy, where in VT are you from? I am guessing Champlain valley based on your description? Not sure how Beauregard might be, or Champlain valley but Townline in Plainfield NH is very helpful. If you strike out check walts tractor parts (online) they have been exceptionally helpful with my hard to find British parts , they might just be able to help with the German machine.
