(What’s a $6k motor job look like?)

Believe it or not, that $6000 motor job was about 30 years ago! Had to have been before 1996 because as I recall Dad put the loader back on the 560 while the 756 was in the shop.

To the best of my knowledge all they did was pull it out of the tractor, disassemble, reassemble with the overhaul kit, put it back in the tractor.

It wasn't done right. Had nothing but problems with the #1 hole every year or so after that overhaul, costing an additional $4000 because it was always just out of warranty and the dealer wouldn't give any consideration. Probably because my folks were one of their few customers that paid their bills...

Geez leave the guy be.   I have met “Rusty”.  He is a nice guy.   His tractor= he can do what he wants with it.  If he wants to paint it purple with pink Polk-a-dots so be it

I do have a purple car, it would match hahahaha, no I'm going to paint it egyption gold cause it's the color everyone wishes gold demos wereScreenshot_20220115-141249_Gallery.thumb.jpg.ed84956988368c3ac12f1e35f6931e2a.jpg

But they were mostly done proactively and on well-maintained tractors without bigger problems

This one was done proactively, and for many years Dad lamented that he should have just left it alone. I don't remember exactly why he decided to have it overhauled but as I recall it was still running and being used every day.

That tractor got genuine IH Low Ash 30 in the summer and Low Ash 10 in the winter, so the oil got changed twice a year whether it needed it or not, so it wasn't a matter of lack of maintenance either.

Got both fenders mounted, i set them a littlef forward vs the original spot. Fenders are more centerd on the axle and look better i think. Mounted the 67 bendix20230210_135900.thumb.jpg.1802778894419acb641a7b1fe738a8d1.jpg20230210_135844.thumb.jpg.58dadb498ab5406fc34a570f3d0aee47.jpg20230210_135806.thumb.jpg.c1a98c0a842c9ddde093962ae1a12b9a.jpg fender radio. Just a few leaks , brakes , some odds and ends and it will be ready to paint, but that will be when it's warm out, I will do that myself.

Never seen a tombstone seat on a mechanical suspension before. Interesting.

I had one so I threw it on, also I like the back support, and it looks way nicer.

Off memory for our 1066 13 months ago. Federal Mogul kit $1,400, block and crankshaft to machine shop for cleaning and checking $?, injector pump and injectors rebuilt 1,800+? Turbocharger (new) I had in stock $? , Head sent to shop for cleaning, checking and rebuild 1,500? , Radiator cleaned and checked and rodded out 300? Camshaft bearings replaced,  Labor in house not included in the above along with new radiator hoses and antifreeze . Wish it was only 6,000 for the parts side of this equation

Lots of quick job inframes done around here for under $1000 total, still running 10, 20, 30 years later

"Inframe"?  Doubt anything other than fix bare minimum is done for this price. Inframe in my opinion is complete overhaul without removing crankshaft or camshaft, head done , rad should be checked also

Quick inframe…pistons/sleeves/bearings. Proactively.  Like you bought it with 5000 hr on it, don’t know what’s inside, so you look.    We don’t touch radiators that are cooling just fine.
heads go to the shop if they need it.  Same with the injection pump.   If the tractor started quick and ran strong, I’m not touching it.
Bought a 1466 with 4500 hr on it, pretty reasonable, because it was rattling.  Figured the worst.  Pulled valve cover…..found a broken rocker arm.   Pretty quick fix.  Installed bearings proactively.  I think it ran good for another ten years after that.   Then it got everything the next time. So that first ten years was free.   Imo.

I ran one on a 1066 with mechanical suspension for years. I got it cheap (used) and ran it.

Are cushions and arm rests available for the tombstone seats?

Just about ready to hook up to the 13ft 3 point digger to go out and brake the new engine in. This is the biggest looking littler tractor around haha. 20230410_173159.thumb.jpg.ff265a7126ab43ffcb5310788330e0a8.jpg20230410_173228.thumb.jpg.b8da03f91eb93505531c2aebdbebfdad.jpg20230410_173309.thumb.jpg.b0af52e41fc124527fd6469d6e69b479.jpg20230410_173327.thumb.jpg.778466eb60a998608357493b3fc99bf9.jpg20230410_173341.thumb.jpg.642029d2fe79d189dc3641f0a1ac35af.jpg

Looks like you got a young operator there. Very nice.  That'll be a beauty there, once painted.

I bought a drone and Zeke in the pic is going to pull a 13 foot 3 point digger on sandy ground to break in the engine . Will make some great drone footage him doing that and flying along side

Figured if there's a mount for a light might as well put a light there. It was originally a fender delete but can't hurt having more lights20230411_144644.thumb.jpg.65de03150c210e2e119a0f940d3084c8.jpg20230411_144653.thumb.jpg.5c47df1d04bc6d8afb3472eee545f748.jpg20230411_144657.thumb.jpg.8a1f271864d9ba1516722f71bf349d28.jpg20230411_142603.thumb.jpg.b3643e24ce2e28448f51c224f2a0f318.jpg

Never was a 544 anywhere near us. How does this tractor, power wise compare to 400 or a 450?

54hp 4 cylinder,  544
