And hopefully will get many more years of service from it. That is the end goal…. Fix it and hopefully get another 7000 plus hours out of it.

I’d like to see a picture of what you got. Bought a bunch at dealer close out auction a few years ago. Haven’t had to use them yet so don’t really know if everything is there

nate
Anyone have any issues with the neutral switches? This one was folded over, got it straightened out and back adjusted but it wants to catch and fold over when it’s adjusted to where the switch works. Joninva
My 54 did the same thing. Got a new switch from mike but haven't put it on yet.
pirlbeck
Kind of hard to tell from the pictures, but be sure to lube the shaft and gears when assembling, or they may seize to the shaft on start up, before the pressurized lube oil gets to them. The thrust surfaces of the gears and thrust washers need lubrication also.

I relocated mine so it is now a “parking brake on start switch”.

Also are going to force some oil thru the shafts. Or is there a better way?? Thanks.

I just though that looking at the pictures things looked a little "dry". Forcing some oil into the shaft sure would not hurt anything either. Yes it is, Here is my scrap metal engineered update. Time will tell if it hold up, but seems to work smoothly and doesn’t want to catch and bend anymore.

acem
I think it's an 83 but I'd have to check to be sure. It has the ab100 pump and the newer hydraulic handles. Thx-Ace
nate
The motor came apart this weekend to see what parts we need. Pressure tested cooling system before it was tore down to see where coolant was leaking in pan #2 was culprit. Also found where excessive blow by came from. #6 had a broken ring. There was scoring on piston near piston pin ends on a few. Now the question of what kit to get???
acem
Does Navistar still have good parts available? Surely someone makes parts for a dt466 here in the states... Thx-Ace
Only RED in the shed
I work at a Navistar dealer and you can get dt kits but not sure where they come from. Haven't had any issues with them yet but who knows when Volkswagen starts messing with things
