3588 price

About 10 yrs ago, Dad bought his 3788, cosmetically rough, tired engine, TA only drove in low, 30% rubber & no duals $4500.

Never fixed issues, it did the job he expected it to do. Kinda figured it would bring as much as he paid for it when we liquidate his estate, but I'm not gonna hold my breath.

Decent older rubber, ran when parked long  time ago. Think the transfer case out

Interesting about Transfer case out, I can only imagine if a seal on a spinning shaft failed the oil would leak out.

I don't have any knowledge of a 2+2 case failing,  Other parts may contribute to the chance of the front axle not driving,

I'm a Real fan of 2+2's,  Several of our Neighbors have Farmed with 3388, 3588 & 3788's,

Interestingly All the Tractors were tuned to the same Horsepower!!  The Average Person couldn't distinguish the difference between a 3388 from a 3788.

If you could own this 3588 for 3 Grand,   You will have received equal to the "Golden Ring" at the local Fair this spring!!

Send a few pictures if you can.

We had the transfer case go out twice on our 3588 then parted it out. We parted it at that point. Not sure what exactly happened but it was getting expensive for the limited hours we had put on it

I was told once that running different tires front and rear would tear up the drive line in a hurry.

Ours had four matched 18r38 Firestone on it

3-4k. Was one 9 year's ago guy asking 4k for. Had engine issues. Log bar, short bars on it, don't remember what brand, probably 85%, but the sun was beginning to take it's toll on them. Don't remember the hours. No cab rust holes, including the doors. Straight. Needed paint. Asked if the T/A worked he said now that you mention that, now and then it will stop if you have the handle down. That was all I needed to hear, I left it sit.

You have got My curiosity up, When the Transfer cases were removed, was it the same gear failure in each transfer case??

Every spring the fluid levels are checked on all of our Equipment,   the site glass on the transfer case is a no brainer,

       Thanks,    Jim Droscha

If I remember correctly it was the main bearings that the power goes through to the flywheel the second time, I don't think it was exactly the same thing the other time

I want to know more about the hydro 3588 Farmington Implement showed in their last dvd.

From the bell housing back the 3x88 and 1x86 tractors are for all intents and purposes identical. The transfer case for the 2+2 front end bolts on to the same spot as an Elwood axle. So in the grand tradition of swapping front halves and back halves someone mated the front half of a 3588 with a Hydro 186 rear end.

Topic derailment: It is theoretically possible to mate a 71X0 Magnum rear to a Super 70 series front to make a full powershift 7288/7488. However at least publicly nobody has found enough parts to make a Super 70 front end, and nobody is willing to knock one of the 18(?) known to exist in the head to try.

In the video they mentioned it wasn’t as easy as just swapping a rearend from a hydro to the 2+2.  Sounds as if they may explain more in next years video. They did show they found the front frame and axle from a super 70 series.

Isn't it the pivot castings the sticking point of making this a reality? That it was made differently than the 30 and 60 series. It makes sense since the transmission is different than the originals.

It would be possible to manufacture but it certainly wouldn't be cheap

Have to add the gear for the MFD drive in a hydro to get it to connect to the front tires with the transfer case drive
