B.B.
As an owner of 6 86 series tractors I hate to see this thread die. If time and money weren't an issue, I keep think about building an open station 1486 with my original 1486 with a stuck engine and a rusty cab, and the 1586 I bought last with something wrong in the transmission. Just need money and more importantly time... Oh and a nice shop to work in.

It had the half-moon shaped wing spring extenders. Yes. It's my old disc. Honestly its built light and has been welded on a bunch, but it really does a nice job with the adjustable gangs. I can finish with it pretty well. Once I bought my Krause offset gang disk I never really get it out unless it's something rough i dont want to tear my krause up on. This BWA is 16'

Normally things like this bother me but it really doesnt. Here's the kicker. This cab has been red from day one. No signs of any white paint anywhere. Only thing I can figure is someone replaced the whole thing. possibly by then 88 series it would of came red???? Just speculation.
bitty
Drove home another 186 with a weak hydro . Wedge locks 20.8-38, 11.00-16, diff lock, totally roached out cab, recent engine and radiator . Took 5 1/2 hours to get home .... Trailer is in use otherwise I would have hauled it over weight and width. It even has the optional bent back exhaust pipe with the flapper on BACKWARDS

The better one with loader sold for 17,000 dollars to a jockey in PA. The other one which was sold new locally (Finger Lakes Tractor Penn Yan, NY) sold for 6,000 dollars but was rough in appearance. Did not hear any weird noise but that does not always tell the story. A potato farmer over in Steuben County had 4 that they bought new back in the day and this may have been one of them. The 186 is on my bucket list. I have the same factory optioned aerodynamic (good for 2mph in road gear) bent back exhaust on my 1486🙄😉😁 Hope it serves you well! So with a hydro do they put in some kind of structure in place of the speed and range levers to crawl over to get in and out??? 😆😅🤣

Farmall Doctor
That's the way the weather cap is supposed to be! So that it is less likely to grab a tree branch when working next to the bush.

Rain cap installed other way is backwards and is immediately turned around if tractor was bought like that.
